I've used Flashfxp to put files in my xbox. The skins show up under the Select a Different Skin option, but when I put an App in my F: Apps folder, it doesn't show up on my Launch Apps From HD menu. What step did I miss? Thanks!

hi Markuss702,
you havent messed up anything at all mate.
Just sounds like your evox.ini file is missing a line.
Do this for me..
1. FTP into your xbox and get a copy of EVOX.ini from the hdd..
2. Now make a backup of it and then open it using NOTEPAD.
You want to find where it says something like this..
Code:
AutoAddItem "e:\apps";
SortAll
All you want to do is make a copy of the AUTOADDITEM line and then link it to your f:\apps\ directory or g:\apps\ directory.

Do you understand now how its working.. You can look at the evox.ini and get a rough idea how its all finding it..
Well, I thought I was getting it. Since the ini file tells it to search e:, then f: and then g:... shouldn't it already be reading and displaying them? I see some that are in my F:\Apps folder, but not all of them that I see when I ftp into it.
I looked at the folder setups for the Apps that do show, and the ones that don't appear look the same. That's why I thought deleting the search in e: and sending it directly to the f: drive might work. Is that what you meant by linking it? Thanks again![/quote]

Yes, exactly.. So there must be something wrong with a couple of the apps you have there.. You probably have some corrupt files or something.. Make sure you have a 'default.xbe' in each folder.. the default.xbe is what dashboards look for..
Did you use the Auto Installer Deluxe to install everything for you?? Or did you do it manually?? If you havent used AID2 i sugges tyou look into dude.. Its the best tool there is..

I did some more digging and figured out that some of the files were incomplete, as you suggested. Ihad someone install the chip for me, and they loaded everything with Slayer's Evox. I've already put AID 2.0 on the old HD, but I didn't think of using it as ftp seemed quicker.
Which raises another question, the AID tells me I have a version 1.1... one of the apps I installed (XBOXVersion by Team GueuXNET) says it's a 1.4. How reliable are these detectors?
Thanks again for all the help!

I wouldnt think they would be really accurate..
The best way is to open your xbox and identify it that way.
heres a Xbox SWF Tutorial which i think will help..

Dang FH! You're turning me into a Techie!!! I opened it up and it is indeed a 1.4. The amazing part, is I put it back together and it still works!! Woo Hoo! You've got me peeking at ini files and soon I'll be ready to be fitted for a lab coat!!
Thanks for all the help!
