Help! So I have a original xbox (hardmodded) has I think most games known to man on it and loads of the old classics. Now I was having a problem getting 1 game to work with trainers (can come back to that if need be) Now..............I have no idea what i've done BUT...........for some reason now my xbox will boot (says loading IND-Bios) gives the microsoft logo (slightly altered of course) THEN..................Nothing. Won't boot into a dashboard or nothing. Just gives me a grey screen. It's as if something's been altered but don't know what
(To clarify i've posted this in other forums too)

Was the console booting the ind-bios before the problem occurred.
Sounds like you removed the C:\evoxdash.xbe file so now there's no replacement dashboard installed on the hard drive too run. However, I thought the ind-bios would try to load the stock MS dashboard if no replacement dashboard listed in C:\ind-bios.cfg was found.

Yeah that the thing. Tried a Start and Y combo and nothing would come (no backup or anything) so what I gonna have to do is get a DVD-R today burn Hexen see if I can sort the mess out

I doubt there is much of a mess. To delete something that should have been on C:\ is a bit unusual but it happens. Golden rule with the Xbox, hardmod or softmod, is do not touch the C:\ drive unless you know what you're doing.
If you accidentally over-wrote, renamed, moved or deleted your main dash XBE that is all you're going to need to replace.
What main dash did you have? What did you use to install it? HeXEn, AID, Slayer?

Fairly certain was xbmc4gamers (was all pre-done for me) wouldn't have a clue how it was installed but advised that Hexen should get me somewhere now need to figure out what to do providing I get Hexen burned in the first place

I can't advise; without information about how a XBMC4Gamers installation should look like it is difficult to say what you've done wrong.
I'd guess that Rocky5 put the actual dashboard files somewhere other than C:\ and used a shortcut XBE on C:\ point to either a "Dashboard" folder on E:\ or a XBMC4Gamers folder on E:\. But it is only a guess.
I'll see if I can find out but to fix this back to how it was we'll need to see whats now on C:\ and E:\.
With a chip/TSOP its all fixable, at least if you have a working disc drive but I'm not too keen on the idea of mixing HeXEn with however XBMC4Gamers is installed. HeXEn leaves a whole load of stuff behind including a default ind-bios.ini which might have overwritten the one you had.
You should still be able to cold boot a HeXEn disc boot and use its file manager to see what is on C:\ and E:\. Its GUI basically a modified UnleashX dash so you should be able to take screen shots using L3 + Black button. If I remember correctly they are saved to either X, Y or Z.

It's fixed I got a copy of the correct files I should have in the C and E drives. I put them in VOILA! Xbox relives. I done a restore to get it back to the way I had it before (Start and Y as you start the system up) and bham back to the way it was

What are those buttons supposed to do? Do you have a link to a write-up about using them?

I thiink it might be for specific builds but if you hold start and Y as you enter the bios? (mine is a IND-BIOS) and let go as soon as the bios screen disappears you get taken to a recovery menu to restore your build. I mean as I said it might just be specific to mine not sure
