Hi peeps! Just wondering if someone can help me with a 1TB sata hardrive install..this is the 1st time i have chipped my xbox and i have jumped straight into the deep end trying to install a larger HDD lol
Ok first things first..he following is my specs: Duo X2 GS modchip installed in a v1.4 version Xbox i also have an xbox compatible IDE to SATA adapter aswel for the install..My question is can i just connect this all together and run the AID disc for the install? i read somwere that you have to adjust cluster sizes and stuff and i dont have a clue as to what that is or were to start? if anyone can help me with this step by step if possible that would be bluddy awsome!!

Just hook it all up and pop in AID then launch XB Partitioner.
From there you just go in and install what you want one by one since i dont think the one click install option can handle a hard drive that size, might want to ask DJB to make sure.

Cheers for the help dudes much appreciated! i did the install yesterday couldnt wait lol must say it all works great thus far! have just managed to load 930GB successfuly without any nightmares or overwriting stuff lol.. in saying that long story short there is wastage of about 60GB..but yea the running of it is pretty stable, seems as though this adapter tricks the xbox into thinking its running an IDE not SATA because there seems to be no great loss or gain in performance things ive have noticed: a slight 3 second delay here there specially when loading XMBC upon start up compared to my other xbox (im fussy and notice these things lol) and the fans not as noisey as i thought it would be running at 40 degrees wich is verrry suprising since i have had it on all through the night till this morning loading..i use my xbox as a suped up movie media player that i play games and listen to music on as a bonus ..im wrapped!

Hey ALLsTARZ101 ,
I'm just like you I'm waiting for my first xbox to arrive it already has 120gb installed but I have a 1.5tb seagate drive here that I was going to build a nas with and just so happens that I have exactly the same SATA adaptor lying around..Have you had any Issues since your last post I have read after googling around some people have had data corruption...( dont know if they have used the 64 clusters though)
Question for Everyone lol, If I take out the 120gb and try installing the 1.5tb and mess it up will I be ok replacing the 120gb and all will be normal ?lol do I need to copy anything from the old drive to the new or can I just install the 'virgin' new drive and use the instructions as shown here with AIO?
@ turnerfromdover, what you say is correct, keep your 120gig incase things go wrong, install your MASSIVE hdd and use A.I.D to set it up ... Xboxpartitioner might be a wise option for a larger cluster size ..................
"
@ALLsTARZ101 im also keen to hear some feedback as to how things are going.
EDIT : turnerfromdover, if you do manage to set your xbox up as a NAS please report back and let me / us know what things you did and how they turned out.
