I have successfully softmodded my V1.6 with a SID 5 installer used xboxhdm to build a 120GB HDD and then loaded XBMC and all is working great. So happy with the results I am now attempting a second XBox
I started by softmodding the XBox then backed up all data via ftp.
I have created new xboxhdm with the C - E and eeprom - burnt iso - loaded and locked HDD - all went fine but XBox wont boot into this new HDD
Checked HDD is compatable on lists - yes it is!
I have now burnt it 4 times but it wont get past flubber - just a flash then starts boot cycle again
I am using same equipment as 1st mod and even same rewrite DVD
have down loaded another xboxhdm in case 1st corrupted
all seems fine with xboxhdm as the software boots and runs and allows me to create a new HDD and lock it. Does anybody have a idea what it could be stopping this from working

I have tried using the C and E backup from this 2nd xbox as well as using the C and E from my 1st XBox and always adding the eeprom from the 2nd box - still wont boot past flubber
I then tried burning a new ISO using the C and E backup of my fully modified 1st xbox with XBMC and the correct eeprom - still wont boot up
Just an idea,
The back up of `E` you are using, Go into it and try deleting all the contents of the `cache` folder before adding it to xboxhdm. _________________

I have tried fitting the original softmodded HDD back to the XBox and it boots fine into EvoX dash and everything works.
I will try your suggestion of deleting cache and see what happens
Thanks for the idea!

I deleted the cache and burnt a new ISO - worked 100% - thanks for the tip
I have noticed something else on the next xbox I am converting
Using SID 5 you back up the eeprom
I have done the softmod and all has worked 100% I now want to back up the eeprom to install a larged HDD
I took a look at the eeprom backup in the E folder and found that it only had 1 file in it
That was a SID5 file - all the other files including eeprom were not there
I booted up the softwmod menu and again backed up eeprom and still got only 1 file
I now cant move to the next step without eeprom
any ideas what is happening
I ran into that a few times. I found that if you download sid 3 and install evox as dash the backup feature in the settings menu it always (for me) gave me a good backup of all important EEPROM.bin. Try it and let us know.

I have been checking the backup (with ftp) to see if all files are there.
I find that sometimes it works first time and sometimes you need to backup a few times. I have now done a few softmods with SID 5 and always check that eeprom is good before moving on to fitting a larger HDD
I only use SID5 and see you suggest trying SID 3
I may give it a go
Thanks

If you can find the list of trainers in you hdm disk you should delete them and try again.
