Hey everyone,
I try putting the least burden on my dvd-drive (weakest link in an XBox),
so I play all my games from my hard drive,
I normally use DVD2XBox, which works fine,
but for Toca Race Driver 3 (UK version) that doesn't work in the normal file-mode,
because there are 5 files with too long filenames that DVD2Xbox renames...
and it doesn't work from hdd...
so I've tried DVD2XBox isoripper (the ripping itself to hdd works perfectly), the game tries to load but after a few seconds black screen and it goes back to my XBMC dashboard...
I've also tried the isoripper of driveimageutils-v1.0.1,
same problem,
though it has to work on a softmodded XBox, cause I've read that people with a nkpatcher or ndure mod were able to play the ISO from hdd...
I've got SID5.01 and AID4.12... is that the reason? the type of softmod?
I've tried it also with games that do work in file-mode, but when put by isoripper on my hdd they don't work?!
does anyone know why?
thanks,
take care &
Kind regards!

Sounds like you need to patch the xbe for that one, dont know whare you wold find that one.
Try using Qwix to create an ISO and transfer the ISO to ur XBOX. If not rip the ISO with Qwix to the file folder format. U can patch the XBE with Qwix if need be then transfer file/folders back to the XBOX.
Craxtion 4 can also patch the XBE file. _________________

Google this right here( XBOX-XF-TOCA Race Driver 3 FIX .RAR GAMEBOX RELEASE ... )
Without the ( ) and read that im sure it will help you get it going.
Wes, tried that, no seeds for that file right now...
making ISO over ftp straight from DVD with Qwix,
but then I'll need to make a default.xbe to put in same folder as ISO ?
this is from another forum:
Quote:
this game works fine from HDD
but you must be using a NKPatcher softmod with the virtual CDRom enabled (kingroach's NDURE 3.1 is enabled by default)
you must rip the game using driveimageutils (other games can be riped with DVD2XBOX but not this one)
and use attach.xbe to mount it (renamed to default.xbe)
the XBEPatcher is a simple tool to help you play your
original xbox games from the HD even when the game has long filenames.
REVISIONS :
0.3 : NTSC MTX support
0.2 : MTX Mototrax specific patching
0.1 : Generic patching
HOWTO :
to use it make a CLEAN ftp of the game from the D: drive of your
xbox to the PC HD , then copy the XBEPatcher.exe into the game
directory that you created on your PC HD and from an MS-DOS shell
run the XBEPatcher using the following options :
XBEPatcher -mtx : patch MTX Mototrax PAL version
XBEPatcher -mtx_ntsc : patch MTX Mototrax NTSC version
XBEPatcher : with no option will try a generic patch (BETA)
< USE ONLY IF YOU ARE BETA TESTING >
once patched you can delete the file "default.xbe.bak" (is the not
patched original file) and ftp all the game back to your xbox HD.
if used without any special commands (so just run the .exe),
it renames the 5 files that have too long filenames and patches the default.xbe,
those 5 long files are now:
01566257402957006257349845861827402934(null)
etc. so each time made shorter with at end (null)
I've tried it, did not work, I notice that the end of the files when ftp'ed back to the hdd end with (nul
so that means the XBEPatcher still generates too long filenames...
no luck there, don't understand why the patcher still makes too long filenames, or maybe it's something else and the end (null) does not matter at all, don't know...
if you use command XBEPatcher -mtx, nothing happens (I have the UK PAL version)...
now ftp'ing the ISO made with Qwix back to my XBox...
... tried... same deal, just goes black few seconds & goes back to dashboard...
guess I'll have to install the ndure softmod to be able playing ISO from hdd?
sure hope that ISO's made by Qwix will work from hdd, cause those made by isoripper are the full 6,7gb (split after 4gb, and the second part not needed for game), which is very inefficient on space usage...),
or can it be possible with SID5.01 softmod?
thanks!

How far in to the game do you get befor it reboots, does it make it to whare it loads your save game then lock up?
It's not just specific for that game,
not a single game works as an ISO on the hdd,
I'm playing around with Kingroachs Installer Ndure-3.1 at the moment,
cause that softmod does work with ISO's on hdd,
thanks for the help,
Regards
