OK guys, you lot seem to be the experts, so lets see if you can help.
I have a xbox with a exenium mod chip v2. recently slung in a 120gb hard drive, used Slayer evox 2.5. All is ok bar the fact I'm having problems with back up games.
About a third of the games I previously backed up onto DVD+r's don't work.
When I make a new back up none of the new ones work.
Have tried this using craxtion 4, flash fxp, iso maker, nero, dvd dycrpter.
Have tried burning at speeds as low as x2 upto x8, am using verbatim disc's which have worked in the past no problem.
The odd thing is that the new copies I'm making seem like the xbox is reading them, I push the button on the joypad to boot the game from the evox menu & the disc starts to spin, the screen changes like it is about to boot the game as normal, then it just freezes.
Also just as puzzling, some of the games I have backed up with phh loader to the hard drive do the same thing.
Any suggestions?

I would also suggest maybe trying DVD-R's in future too, they are more compatible.

Ok cheers guys
Have made a fresh install of XBMC, has helped a bit.
It will now read my previously copied games no problem & will run all games loaded on the hard drive.
The disc type I am using works fine(DVD+R) as I loaded the dashboard from a DVD I had burnt.
Am still haveing a prob copying my games, I know i can keep them on the hard drive, but I would like to keep a DVD backup.
I'm able to extract the game file from the xbox hard drive or from the orid DVD in the xbox.
Have used craxtion 4 to turn it into a ISO, craxtion patchs the files as it does this.
Have then burnt the ISO using DVD Decrypter at x2 speed.
The xbox recognises the disc, comers up with the game name & shows a thumb nail on screen, but when I try to start the game it try's to play then freezes up & does nothing!
Any ideas peeps?

I always use xiso maker to make the iso, then use DVD decrypter at the fastest speed and mine always works. _________________

if you have fitted a new HDD then delete your cache files. Delete all files in the following folder
E:\CACHE
this will stop the games freezing. You dont need to delete your gamesaves the UDATA and TDATA folders should be left untouched

OK thanks all again for your help.
Still no joy on this one.
i have now deleted the E:cache file, no joy, deleted the other two mentioned files (udate & something else) as mentioned, still no joy.
It's got to be something in the ripping/iso creation or burning stage.
I don't understand how it can be the disc's if I have burned auto installer on one & updated the xbox.
Have used nero & dvd decrpter to burn.
Craxtion 4 & CBTool for patching & ISO creation.
Any other thoughts guys?

What dvd drive do you have? My thompson (the pickiest one) reads Philips DVD+R's. _________________

Yeah I have the dreaded thompson as well.
Don't think its the discs. I ahve 20 backed up games on various makes of discs & they all work fine, it has only been since I slung in the larger hard drive. Everything seems to work fine (plays the previous backed up games, plays movies, music & games on the hard drive).
