Hi, I just recently got an Xbox and found out it was modded. When I boot up the console, it shows an Xecuter2 logo on the bottom of the Microsoft logo. I have some questions.
Is their a way to disable the modchip so I can go on Live? When I disable the modchip, will the Xecuter2 logo disappear on boot?
Also how can I check out what Bios version the Xecuter is. Also is their a way to tell what Xecuter2 version modchip it is without opening the Xbox? If the only way to tell is by opening the Xbox, once opened how do I then tell what version it is.
I'm not sure what version my Xbox is but it says it is made in Mexico and has a manufacturing date of October 04, 2002 which from a guide says it is mostly likely a v1.0 as anything made after November 2002 in Mexico is a 1.1?
I've download the AID 3.10 ISO but wanted to get some confirmation on things before I use it.
Since it is a modded chipped Xbox, do I still need to back up the EEProm and stuff or can I just use AID and format everything? I was reading about softmods and it was usually recommended to backup the EEPRom and stuff but I'm not sure if a modded chipped Xbox requires that?
Thanks for any help.
I just found out that my bios version is X2 4973 (1.0) if that helps any.

try either booting it up by pressing the eject button, or by holding down the regular power button for an extended period of time (1-2 seconds). see if it boots to the M$ dash?
does it boot to a hacked dash now?

Just for reminder Iam new in mod thing.
I have the one like yours. How do you know yours is 4973 bios? Did you see it from the hack dash? (unleashx/xbmc/evoX..etc....)
If yes, you are ready to use it. Or you see it from Flashbios screen, or Cromwell screen?etc....
My chip is Duox2 and I made it always on the chip, I don't need the live, so I don't need it to boot on M$ dash.

Okies, this is what I did, using AID Tools 3.10, I found out the xecuter2 bios is X2 4973 (1.0). I then proceeded to format the HD using AID Tools 3.10.
I installed the original MS DASH on C drive I believe
I then installed XBMC Dash on E drive.
I booted up using Power button and I get screen going to Green Xbox logo with xecuter2 logo below it.
Tried this time by holding Power button for longer then 2 seconds, get same thing.
Repeated using the ways you told me, and I still get MS dash.
Is it because I'm installing XBMC on wrong drive or am I using an incompatiable bios? I can boot XBMC dash from AID Tools though. Thanks.

I found out my Bios by using AID tools. I don't see any hacked dash, just the MS dash with xecuter2 below the Xbox screen when booting up. Thanks

You see xecuter 2, you already has hack bios.
You did installation on c right, I assume you formated already.
I always installed the hack dash on C. (after I tried on other drive such E/F). On E/F, mine had no luck, always went to the optional dash NOT the main dash. But after I installed it on C(it ask you again: retail HDD E, large E+F, larger E+F+G), it boot on the hack dash of my chosed.
Just give it try on C.
If you can open the box, it will be easier for me(newbie/and the chip is DUOX2 lol..) to tell you what is the next step.

I will try putting it on C drive. I can't open up my Xbox yet though as I don't have the tools for them yet. Thanks

XBMC wont fit on the C drive...cause its only like 399 megs...well it might if you dont have the addon packs.
i have XBMC running as my dash but i had to have my dashes boot from the E drive and thats where i installed it.
my C drive is blank, although that is where you would put the M$ dash if you were using it.

Yeah, I installed XBMC on E drive but it doesn't even boot that up unless I use AID and select it to boot up. How do I go about making it so I can select between MS dash and XBMC dash upon boot up without requring the AID disc in the system all the time. Thanks

when you are running AID 3.1 for the first time when setting up your hard drive you choose to install dashboards...just choose XBMC and tell it to install it to the E drive. This is in the install dashboards sections, then install everything else as applications.
now, the difference here, and someone might be able to help you out, is that i have an X3 chip and i can tell my chip to boot from the E drive and...yours probably looks at the C drive first and doesnt find anything, then errors out. which ultimately leads to a problem because you want to run XBMC as your dash, but it wont fit ont he C drive.
you might just want to conder running Avalaunch or Unleash or something like that as your dash, then just using XBMC as an application...it just wont boot to it.

I use unleashx for my main dash(C) and I put couple dashs on applction.(E).
Can you see how many Gig your HDD? If there is retail, maybe is a good idea to upgrade it while u waiting for the tools. Because retail drive maybe can save about 1-2 games(depend on game) ONLY. So, once you open the box you can upgrade it too! If you not concern about live(LOCKING the Hdd), just put bigger Hdd then install AID, then Boom! ready for use.
Honestly, with retail drive , seem anything very limited.

I might just do that, thanks.

I have the retail HD. Yeah, I might just give up on live, as I'm mainly going to be using it to play video files anyhow and a bigger hard drive seems the way to go. Thanks
