Hey, I finally was able to burn a DVD Movie to a DL Disk, after only three coasters!
I originally tried to use my CloneDVD2 Program, but couldn't get it to recognize the disks. I tried Nero, but burnt a coaster. I tried DVD Decrypter, yet another coaster. I even tried a program called Super CloneDVD 3. Garbage.
I found that my original CloneDVD2 program needed an update so I downloaded the newest version and joy on the first try. I am not going to go ahead and try to burn my NinjaGaiden.iso using the same program. My feeling now is I will be good to go and able to finally burn larger games to some type of medai for backup purposes.
I'll keep you all posted on the NG burn.
later all

You actually meant NOW instead of NOT, right? I want to hear how it burns!!!! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I used a hacked firmware on my nec 2500 to enable dl burning, created an .iso from my xbox of metal gear solid using qwix, and burned to a dual layer ritek dvdr with dvd decrypter. Game reads fast and flawlessly. Now we can finally back up those large games!

Damn man...I can't get mine to be read in the xbox...and I got a friggin Samsung!
I'll try using Quix. I am wondering if I need a firmware update or something. The DVD's that I burned will read fine in my DVD Player, but my xbox won't recognize those either. I tried RiDATA and Verbatim.
Actually, the more I think of this...I don't see how Quix will make a difference for me. Nor do I think my firmware in my burner will make a difference, as the disks are burning fine....it's just the xbox isn't reading.
Any suggestions?
thanks man... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

So, I guess you'll have to resort to backing up the really large games on 8-track? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I've heard samsung drives have a problem reading +r media. You can change the booktype on the disk to dvd-rom and your drive should read it fine. I dont really know how to change it beacuse I have a phillips drive that reads +r just fine.

My Samsung reads DVD+R fine...the only brand I ever ran into that gave me a problem is Memorex. I also have a HaloSE with a Phillips drive, and my DL burned version of Ninja Gaiden didn't work in it either...nor did it read the DL Movie that I backed up. My DVD Players read the movie fine, but my xbox won't.
I'd sure like to know how I could get successful DVD9 burns that the xbox will read. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

So still no joy on the DL DVD game discs?
I was at Best Buy last night and they had a Sony internal DL DVD burner for $119, external for $229. Glad I didn't buy one! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Well, I would still get one!!! They are awesome man. I love backing up my entire movie without having to compress or strip out.
I will get the games to work. I am going to try a different burn method. I have been hearing more and more people getting them to work. I have a feeling it's a two fold problem. One, my media, two my burning method. I haven't tried my updated version of CloneDVD2 yet. Nor, have I tried quix to create the .ISO.
I sold my xbox and don't have my 160GB HD installed in my Halo machine yet so as soon as I do, I will dive it a whirl.. I feel good about the outcome already...I think it will be fine.
I saw the burner you are talking about. It is the first one I got. I bought it when it was 199.00 but then switched to the external one from hell since it was half the price. Since I sold the Sony, I ended up buying the newest Memorex to come out.

I almost bought that Sony... decided I'd rather spend $200 on direct Xbox stuff than on peripherals. I would definitely want to get the external as the laptop is the wife's, so I'd have to use my laptop.
Let me know if you get it working! Are you going to try putting multiple games on one disc? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I'm a newbie (obvious hehe) and want to ask what's the purpose of backing up games in a DL disk? Are those DVDs with a side A & B just like the old laser disks and some DVD movies? The xbox has 1 lense so you need to chage from side A to B to continue your game...am i right? or maybe i'm missing something here?

DL discs have two layers... both are read from the bottom by the one laser in the DVD drive. Many of the retail discs for larger games are this way. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

You are thinking of a "Dual Sided" disk, not "Dual Layer". _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
