Ok, let me start by saying that I was never a big fan of the Splinter Cell series. I found them slow and couldn't really get into it. So when I started playing SC: DA my hopes were not set too high. Boy was I wrong!
This latest edition seems to have solved a lot of the problems that turned me off the series in the first place. The game interactivity has been increased and right from the word go I feel more involved in the game.
Sam Fisher returns as the secret government agent, sent to crack down on cyberterrorism by going deep undercover within enemy lines. But which side is he fighting for? That much is up to you. The game employs a Trust Meter to see where your loyalties are. Will you be the exemplary agent, or do you have a knack for destruction, this game allows you to choose! The usual features from the SC remain, climb pipes, hang over ledges, drag enemies underwater and use the wide variety of gadgets to manoeuvre through the level, silently taking down the enemy as you go.The camera can be a bit annoying at times and does what I call the Tomb Raider effect, whereby its almost impossible to see something or plan your move because the camera is tucked in so tight all you can see is your head! Still, this aside, the controls are responsive but new players will take a while to master them.As for graphics and sound, well they are pretty much perfect.
The game looks and feels amazing and the enemy AI are smart enough to keep you on your toes.Ubisoft have had quite a few attempts to get this series just right and I feel they're almost there, just need to sort out that camera! Overall though, a very good game, with plenty to do. You and your friend can now play together in co-op mode which adds a great elemnet of teamplay to the title.Definitely a must for all SC fans and if like me you weren't a fan of the series, this game may just change your mind!
