The reason I ask is that there are two versions of the M8.
One for everything up to 1.6 and one for 1.6 only.
Be sure you're using the right one. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I'm using the one that works on all versions. I also installed the gamesave that allows you to choose your dashboard. I chose EvoX

alright I have a theory. When I made the iso using xboxhdm, I burned it to a cd-r disc since my computer would be reading it and not my xbox. Since my softmodded xbox works fine copying any game with its stock hard drive, I figured it had to be a problem with xboxhdm. Could it be because I burned the iso to a cd-r instead of a cd-rw or dvd-r?

One that works on all versions? Didn't Shark2th just say that there was an M8 for version 1.0 - 1.5 and one for 1.6? Shouldn't you use the one for 1.6. Probably doesn't matter since your xbox is booting into EvoX OK.

I resoftmodded my xbox and redid the hard drive with xboxhdm. It still does the same thing.
I'm not familiar with xboxhdm but last weekend i had a similar problem as yours. Xbox would boot fine and run apps with evoX (dvd2xbox and boxplorer) but would not run retail games from the disk or when saved to the hard drive.
Does xboxhdm set up your c drive for you or are you ftp the files you saved from your original HD? I was using Xbox- HQ autoinstaller iso to format and install the MS files when I had the same problem as you. I then decided to try Slayers iso and that took care of my problem. I have a 1.6 version xbox and a 160 Gig HD.
So if I had to guess I would bet on xboxhdm as your problem.

Unless you have a samsung and you know for sure CD-R's work, most people can't get them to play correctly. The CD-RW is a more durable disc and when burnt at a low speed, allows the xbox to read it. The dvd-r also are touch and go.
Here is a xbox-linux and its a bit slow to load being so massive now... but it has some starters for media ideas
No the xboxhdm doesn't matter I softmodded peoples xbox with bigger hd and all different version of xbox 1-1.6b. My guess is more to do with your softmod hack. Just to carry out my fancy(mmm fancy feast sounds good about now...meow) you did state you have evox as your boot up dashboard right? If the answer is yes then *smack!!!* Did you try disabling your IGR and in the option did you inable the F drive because most likely if you didn't inable the f drive no shit the dash wouldn't boot because your telling your dash that there is no F drive so in the affect to perserve its sanity and not blowing up and cause fire in your home it just resets back to the dashboard/freeze because it wet itself... Isn't technolgy great? I too have mine softmod and 160GB HD and no prob for me then ofcourse I don't use evox either but Unleashx for me yea I do have evox but not as my main dashboard since I don't use trainers that much since that's all evox is good for IMO.
Oh and hi Shark2th and shortacid. Btw shortacid I just smoked towlie and man am I buzzed just smoke one of his strings and your good to go!

Yes IGR is dissabled and yes I have an f drive partition. If i didn't then I wouldn't have anywhere to copy all my games to and other games would not play correctly. but its just on a select few games.
