I installed SID v2.0 today on my Xbox - I tried to us ethe MS Dashboard feature and I got an error. My MS Dash board was at 5959 - can I just go rent Burnout 3 and this will take care of my issue? Can I reinstall my HD backup and not have a problem?
Basically everything works fine but I don't like the idea that 1 thing doesn't work - and it seems like that might be a major issue at some point.

Yea there is, you need MS Dash 5960 on there in order to run the patch including with SID 2. Hiring out Burnout 3 and launching the update file via the softmod menu (update.xbe is the file I'm pretty sure).
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but im gonna ask it anyway;)
i applied the softmod and its working fine with the evo dash, but now i want to reinstall the newest ms dash too....
i read something about deleting the C: content, en then "reinstalling" the ms-c.zip file to C:
but what does "reinstalling" means, is this just extraxt de ms-c.zip file to c: on xbox??

i haven't softmodded my xbox yet, but i'm considering that or buying a spiderchip. my main concern is xbox live. i keep reading about how u must restore ur xbox to its pre-modded state to use xbox live with a softmod, however my cousin has a softmod and he doesn't do anything like that at all. what he does is when he wants to play a burned game he loads up the xbox without a disc in it and the custom dashboard loads up, then he inserts the game and selects "launch dvd" from the unleash x menu, and when he wants to play an original game on xbox live he boots up his xbox, inserts the game disc, then turns it off and boots it up again so that the game loads directly and the xbox doesn't even go to a dashboard. now it's a little bit more complicated because he has to first load up unleash x, change his ip to dhcp, then turn it off and turn it on booting directly to the original game, attempt to connect to xbox live, then go back into unleash x and change his ip back to static, and then load up the xbox directly to the game again and finally connect to xbox live and play. he hasn't had his mod for long, but i think that if he was doing something wrong microsoft would've banned him by now. i'm wondering whether this method of letting the system boot the game directly will work with Softmod installer deluxe also. if not, i can use the spiderchip, which should b compatible with xbox live since it has an on/off switch. however, i read somewhere that microsoft bans you even if u have one of those on/off switches. now i have no clue what to do, and i have only two options, softmodding with softmod installer, or buying the spiderchip. i just need to know if this is true about the on/off switch modchips being detectable by xbox live, and also if my cousin's method of playing xbox live games with a softmod will work with softmod installer deluxe.

i have the splinter cell saves from the SID2 on a memory card using the service off www.xbox4noobs.com (thanks mate).
i cannot figure a way to get the saves off the memory card into my unmodded xbox - how do you do it? when the xbox gos to memory and then controller, the saves show up called linux and splinter cell but the only optios are to delete them??? no copy option which i assume is what i need?
unfortunately my xbox is very old and was basically never used for 2 years until now and so has an old dash. is this the reason?
what can i do or what am i doing wrong?

Hi I'm trying to softmod my xbox, but cant get it to work!!!
I've managed to get the copy of Splinter cell onto my harddrive and once I load the game and press A, it loads up evo x.
According to the tutorial, I should then "Create C Backup". However I can only see backup.
Point 7 of the tutorial says to install softmod. Sorry for being stupid, but how do I actually do this (step by step please)

Hi,i' am new here to.
But for your answer, you do now the way to your Xbox memory,right?
From there on, you can chose between HDD or memory card.
Then chose memory card, go to the right and then you will have
the option to copy or delete.
That's how I've done it, I just splinter cell to.
I fond it a' piece of cake to do it, thanks to makers and to help from
all kind off forums .
My problem is that, I only can get one dashb to work???
When i start up,he goes directly to evox,there is no option to go
to unleash?
is that correct or am i doing something wrong??

Hi thanks for these auto install packages, had an error 21 just now and these softmod and auto installers saved the day!
I'm trying to set it all up really nicely this time and I am following the instructions below.
What I would like to achieve is booting up XBMC as the default dashboard with the option somehow to load up the MSDASH5960 whenever required (to set video hidef).My questions is: Where do i install MSDASH (c drive?) and where do i install hacked dashboard(in my case XBMC) in order to achieve the above?
"Now, follow these simple steps:
* Copy the gamesave over to the unmodded Xbox.
* Install a softmod on your xbox, don't worry about the MS Dash as we are going to clean C Drive soon.
* Boot Auto-Installer Deluxe v1.01 or higher.
* Either using FTP or the File Manager, delete ALL files from C Drive.
* Install the MS Dash from Auto-Installer Deluxe.
* Reboot
* Install softmod AGAIN.
* Install your hacked dashboard, or wait to use AID again. If you don't install it now you won't be able to boot your xbox until you do.
* Install the MS 5960 patch.
Now it should all be done. "

I just can't seem to get this to work. I'm using SID2 for Splinter Cell. I'm using a lik-sang USB cable to connect my controller to my pc and using the 1.05 AR software.
I had the unraring problems so I re-rared all of the files in the saved games. I get to the softmod install screen. I can successfully backup. Install Softmod and Install EvoX go without any error messages. However, when I reboot I get the xbox requires service screen (error code 13). I can restore my MS backup and get my regular dashboard back. I just can't seem to get the softmod to work. The only files in the SID folder are closed.bin and open.bin I've looked everywhere and all my searches have come back empty.

I'm trying to softmod an xbox with sid v2.0.
I'm using Mechassault to do it, but when i select Run linux e get a error 21.
I've tried on my own xbox with modchip and worked fine. I tried to switch the HDD's and when i put my own hdd (retail) on the other xbox ei get the same error, even without any softmod in it, and if i put the hdd of that xbox on my on console i get the error too. I'm confused.
If someone could help me...

Hello all...me is back.
I have a question about the usage of the SID v2.0
I've done several softmods now and (in the end) all went just fine
There's only one thing I'm not sure about, cause I ran into it when a friend of mine brought his xbox over and I had to set te time of the clock again.
It was disconnected for almost a hour. When turned on @ my place, I needed to set te clock time. The xbox was in an original state (no mod at all), so launching the M$ dash wasn't a problem.
At this moment the box is softmodded and is running evox as a dash. I applied the patch for the 5960 MS dash, so I can run it from the evox dash.
What will happen if this xbox will be disconnected from power for a long time? Will it ask to set the time? If so, how to do it? Cause it prob. can't find original dash (renamed).
Or isn't the clock going to be any problem at all with this softmod?

t unrar softmod.rar error 0. I have tried a couple of different waysand am still getting this. Have also ftp'd the savegame file over to the xbox and it still is giving me that same error when i try to install the softmod. Any Ideas? thanks. Its a 1.1(0b) version Xbox

Wait, this is kind of confusing. If I have MS dashboard 5960, do I still have to copy the dashboard from AID after I install the softmod? I ask this because I can't buy a VIP membership and all of the torrents I have found for AID are down. Becasue I don't have AID I can't really copy the dashboard.
