I tried a 15W iron once, threw it straight in the bin, tho have a variable temp solder/desolder station now, much better.

I never use tape to hold the pin header in, I just use a cigarette packet between the desk and the mobo, much quicker.

Just found out the X3 uses the whole LPC, so I had to desolder three more holes. Went much faster than the first 11, though I'm sure I'm not using that braid right. I go through an awful lot of it.

A bit off topic, but while we're all here I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on how to salvage my case. Red and white just seems too much like a candy cane, or at best and Xnaut from Paper Mario (it actually looks a lot like one of them. See photo.)

Anyway, the fan grille (is it just grill in America?) that forahobby is sending me is blue, and I'll probably light the jewel up blue also. The eject buttons and controller port lights will be the same color, I just don't know what...

I know you guys have experience with what looks good and what doesn't, so your opinion would be very much appreciated.

Edit: Forgot the pic. Actually, the more I look at 'im... An Xbox looking like that fellow would be a pretty kickin-awesome thing.
