I am a Newbie who is loud and proud! Hear me roar!
Seriously though I do have some questions when I finally get some of those skinny red, yellow, green and white wires soldered to a memory card I just bought at a retro game store today.
I'll be posting more questions as time goes by.
Didn't even know mods were possible till this past summer.
Yes I'm late to the game, but better late than never!
SPPV I know you're a developer for the SID dash based off what you wrote on an ISO hunt forum I was looking up the other day.
Thank you for all you do! People like you make retro gaming so much more fun! Too bad you can't reveal who you are in real life though.. Damn DMCA hackers who play with their electronic toys are what made us a technological giant.
Anyways thanks again all!

always good to hear about new guys interested in the Xbox1.. I was modding them for years, but these days don't exactly have the time due to the size of the network now.. hope you all find the place interesting. _________________ HQ Network:

@Halofan102
Seriously forget the yellow wire it dirty. Ive been making adapters and wiring USB into XBOX for years. And the yellow wire on XBOX is useless. Its for stuff like the lightgun. Te other 4 (red, black, green, white) are the USB data lines and what are needed for any memcard USB mod.
And just for the record I didnt write SID. I did SID5.12 and the edits on 5.11 to fix the ShadowC issues. Also Ive never uploaded to ISoHunt, anybody posting files there as me is full of shit. For legit work by me its here(and our FTP) and underground gamer. I dont upload anywhere else, nor do I distribute via public torrent (ISOHunt)

Another newbie here.
I learned a crapload from sppv on Underground Gamer when I was modding my xboxes. I now have an xbox that has a 250 gig drive full of coinops 5 full and about 60 xbox games.
I play that thing far more than any of my other systems including the ps3/360/wii.
My buddy is bugging the hell out of me to build him up one too, he is another classic gamer nut like me.
Now I want to learn some of the more detailed stuff like alternate dashboards, sata drive installs, etc.
I kkind of like entering the xbox scene so late in the game. It is nice that all the tools and techniques are so mature and well thought out. I can't imagine what it was like to first softmod an xbox back when they first came out.
I did hard mod my son's xbox 1 back in 2004 but that was just so that we could play burned games. I think. LOL I never customized it back then other than doing the basics.
In some respects, I like the fact that xbox live is dead, that means you can do pretty much anything to yoru xbox without worrying about it.

I know, I get caught up in my desktop too but, every once in awhile I fire up the Xbox to remind me how much fun that old console is! Right now, I'm waiting to install a NSD hard drive so I can move all my music and video to it. With a Network Storage Device, it's live all the time so I can stream directly to the Xbox without having to have another computer on to act as a go between!
If you only made edits to the SID program, who originally wrote it?
I'm assuming this site contains the original source code that others can modify (e.g. if they wanted to make a change to it).
Thanks

Theres been 5 authors in total.
RMenhal- Wrote the original NKPatcher (the exploit that all current sofmods use
Xman- Wrote NKPatcher 10 and 11 (what was used in SID5 and 5.11)
DJB- Wrote the SID installer up to 5.11, and AID/XBMCID
NKnave- Wrote the ShadowC and collabarated with DJB on SID4.5
SPPV- Wrote NKPatcher 12 (whats used in SID5.12) the 5.12 installer and fixed 5.11 (ShadowC didnt work proper) and wrote ShadowC Security (included in 5.12), XBMC Installer, Emu Installer, Xtras Installer, AutoBuilder, XMV2WMV, WMV92XMV, UnleashX.40
For the earlier editions of SID good luck on finding src files. I havent seen DJB in a year to 18 months. RMenhal has been MIA for years. And I close src all the stuff I write and very rarely release it to people.

Hi all,
Sigh, I wish I had known about xbox modding years ago in high school when halo 2 came out.
I used to go on xlink kai a few months to play games, but there aren't many english speakers on there. That's when I decided to try modding my console for fun.
Do any of the mods here still use xlink kai to play halo 2 online or other games? How about the Habbi guy on here?
It's always good to have skype contacts to hit up on there:

It appears that I will get alot of attention as a newbie.
so, my son and I decided to mod his xbox for the heck of it. It took us a while to get it going, but finally have unleashX installed.
Am currently rummaging through the site, looking for info on how to begin. This place looks great and thanks for making us feel welcome.

if anyone has questions please don't be afraid to ask. We understand your question may have been asked before but never fear, ask away. Anyway, check out the place, download some files, and don't forget to check out SPPV's installer and DJB's HQ Auto Installer Deluxe.. They are must haves! _________________ HQ Network:

Welcome to the site, Nichijou! If you're looking for emulators, SPPV has an awesome emu installer disc that you can download and burn to a DVD-R.

Thank you for the advice. We naturally tried to attain SPPVs installer, but no luck so far. The FTP seems to be down and the other options are not panning out.
However, we have finally completed the softmod (unleashX) and just began working on how to make the system useful and friendly.
