Hi everybody!
im sad
last year or so i crashed my own good old XBOX.
tried to find help.. reading many forums etc. got punshed to the ground "your a noob u dont know nothing! i wont help you!"
i bought the XBOX from a friend... got it crashed too...
the new xbox from my buddy was ok. i wanted a new system to make a clean backup of my games. (tried to sell my old games i dont want to play anymore.. but for 2$ ? i bought it for round 60euros each..."
so i burned the AID. my xboxdvd drive seems to have some problems to read but after one or two restarts the dvd startet... I formated/prepared the harddisk (Larger HDD) and tried to autoinstall the Evo-X dash. (got used to it cause i had it from the beginning) i used the installmanual for the AID.
restarted the XBOX.. and the dash cant start.
put back AID done some things.
installed the XBMC.. it worked.. but i dont liked it.. so next round
installed a other dash (dont know the name anymore) worked...
so i tried to install the evox again... nothing worked... now i get the ERRORCODE 13 (dash cant be launched..)
i dont think i have a game to install the normal xboxdash
and the box wont read the AID anymore..
i dont realy know wich modchip i have (executer2 was at the boot screen) because i was scared to open the box because i crashed mine so far..
hope anybody can help me... i dont know what to do now... i just want to get it done...
dont have any backups or something.. maybe the old HDD from my own XBOX..
greetings

If it was a chip it should still boot AID, did you make a copy of your eeprom and back it up on your PC?

Cold booting may eliminate the disc read failure, also AID can take some time to boot, I actualy just did a video using it today and I think it took close to 90 seconds to boot on a freshly formatted and modded xbox with evox dash. Since as far as I know Evox doesnt show the D drive (at least no skin Ive seen) theres no way to tell if its reading the disc or not. And a way to eliminate the issue you describe in future is just leave the XBMC or whatever dash, copy Evox dash files to F or G and once youve booted your XBOX just open the evox folder and click on the xbe file. Its not an installed Evox dash more like Evox as an app but its better than an error code.
Without EEPROM the only way to fix error 13 that Ive ever seen is booting into the softmod menu and removing the softmod which if its chipped means removing the dash and replacing it with a virgin 5960 dash

hi,
thank you for reading!
@wes:
no i havent done a backup of the eeprom... i was like "ich got the AID and the manual.. what should go wrong?" yeah.. now im wiser...
@SPPV
so when i do a coldboot.. it should read the disc after a few trys?
and when it shows the errorcodes i should restart?
and when i have to replace the dash now.. i need an "new" xboxlive title like halo2 to install the original dash?
or is there maybe something i can do when i put the HDD into my computer and set it up there?
greetings

Without the EEPROM, unless the drive is unlocked, you will be forced to hotswap it to a PC and go in using either XBOXHDM or Xplorer 360 to rebuild the drive. I prefer XBOXHDM personaly I find Xplorer to be slow and buggy.
On a number of occasions when an xbox has refused to read a disc coldboot has worked for me, especialy when Ive got an error screen and Im trying to use Splinter Cell or 007 to boot the softmod menu to fix it. On a coldboot all you should see is black then the AID screen, if you get an error screen coldboot failed. The other thing you can try is if its a dualboot setup posibly booting with the DVD tray open will put you through to the softmod menu
If The XBOX is in fact chipped you should be able to if need be just put virgin 5960 dash files in the C folder of XBOXHDM make an ISO and build a brandnew drive and throw it in. Locking should not be required.

Your next step is to definitely pull the xbox apart and make sure it is chipped. Post a picture up of the board for us to look at if your not sure. _________________

try turning on your xbox with just a quick tap on the power button. If uou still get an error, turn it off. Then turn it on but keep the power button pressed in for 3 seconds
yeah i saw the link you posted... because of that im a bit scared that the chip is maybe broken...
when i start the xbox with a quick tap.. the xbox intro starts "this green bubble thing" and then error code 16..
hadnt tried the 3sec start will do it now..
EDIT: tried the 3sec start... it does the same "xboxintro -> XBOX Logo (no microsoft or xequter tagline) -> errorcode 16"
its the errorcode page were at the last line stands -superfro

Since its chipped theres a good chance your drive isnt locked, so Id suggest hooking it up to a PC and doing a rebuild with virgin dash and see if that fixes it. Your dash is hookered so you dont really have any options left other than trying a rebuild or throwing another drive in there

okay.. you mean the step with the xboxhdm tool?
can you maybe explain a bit im a bit confused with the manual from the xboxhdm.. i got the 1.9 version from here..
EDIT: have looked at the manuals again... do i need some backed up files from the xbox to create the CD to prepare the HDD?

You need to watch this video, only difference between whats on it and what you do is, only the eeprom will be copied from your xbox (if possible) and put in the eeprom folder, ignore putting files in the E folder, and put the 5960 dash files (you can get em off an AID, UBD4 or Slayers disc) in the c folder. Other than that follow the vieo pretty much exactly

hi sppv,
i watched the video and its pretty good to understand..
but... where should i get the files for eeprom and the c folder from?
the box isnt booting so i cant FTP? (i dont know the IP from the box)
i looked trough the AID files on my pc and havent found the 5960 dash files.. and when i put the dvd to my drive it dosnt show me anything in my drive..
so what do i do now?
try to get a xbox game wich rebuilds my original dash?
edit: watched part 2 of the tutorial... do i have to do this too? because i dont have a memcard... and splitercell (hope i can get it from a friend, the game no memcard) : /

You should only have to do part 1. If you dont have the eeprom dont worry, as long as the chip is still good and its just your dash thats messed you should be ok not locking the drive. But once you get it fixed very first thing you do is ftp off the eeprom.bin file to your PC (if there isnt one you can create one using AID). For the dash files I may be able to help you when I get home
I just had a brain fart. Take the hardrive out of the xbox, if you dont have xplorer360 download it (its available on site) install it on your PC. Turn off the PC, set the xbox drive jumper to slave, hook it up to the PC and turn it on. You should get a found new hardware icon, if not open device manager and scan for new hardware, under harddrives you should have a second one show up as I believe Dev/HDA, doesnt really matter as long as it goes from just showing 1 drive to 2. Open Xplorer360 and open fatx drive. Check the drive if there is a backup folder, if there is copy off eeprom.bin. If xplorer says the drive is locked you will have to do a hotswap. With luck there will be an eeprom.bin file on there this way if the chip is messed you can build a new drive, lock it and take the chip out and do a softmod. And if you dont have the games for it with an eeprom file doing a Kingroach mod is a cakewalk
