Quote from bobrownik:the option BOOT C:\ DRIVE DASH hangs a lot , i think thats because the dash is trying to recognise the dvd thats in the drive
Sorry I missed this earlier, hehe. I'm thinking along the same wavelength as you, once you boot the c dash remove the dvd to see if that helps, I usually remove the dvd at this point myself anyways.

OK, I think I might have found a bug:
When you installed the apps as "Install All" I put the wrong locations for the config files for both Dvd2Xbox and XBMC. I fixed it and it should be fine now...
NEWS FLASH BETA TESTERS!!
I have uploaded the new config file to the same location where you obtained the beta, so have a look at that webpage and you'll find it. Just basically extract the ISO you've got, insert the new config.xml file in the root directory, rebuild the ISO and test.
Hopefully this have solved the infamous XBMC problem
Let me know how it goes...
Cheers!!

Changelog updated, beta 8 now created.
Contains M$ BIOS files plus Dvd2Xbox update.
I have seen a fixed evox m8 v1.6 bios for the v1.6b xboxes, but I am going to wait a few more days until there is a stable bios for it (hopefully configureable so I can set up stealth).

Just so there's no confusion to our testers, beta 8 will NOT be uploaded for testing. Beta 7 is the final testing beta, and if I need to include anything I'll do so like I did with the config.xml file for the main installer.

Quote from bobrownik: unleashx video settings is set to PAL by default , it works fine untill u run a game , then the screen gets messed up , when you go back to dash the screen is still messed up untill the xbox is rebooted , easy fix , change to ntsc by default
I found the problem, the dashboard was forcing video settings. I have now removed that.
There is another patch file in the beta testers section that will eliminate that problem, just extract the ISO, then extract the patch02.rar archive into the root of that folder (it should be replacing config files for unleashx).
Let me know how that goes...

Hey DJB, you will notice that I uploaded an M8 Bios that is compatible with 1.6b version machines. I think it is the beta 1 bios, but as soon as I get my hands on beta 4 I will submit that too.
I know you wanted to grab those bios' before you launched.

I'd really rather wait until it's out of beta stage if possible, just so it can be confirmed stable. I'm still waiting on the "final touch" so hopefully a final 1.6b bios can be released.
BTW, just updated DOSXbox v5 to v6.

Just added Yoshihiro's Evox M8 1.6b BIOS in the usual way:
As usual it comes in 256k, 512k, and 1mb versions.
Thanks to the new EVTool 1.0.8 for recognising this version, so that I could weave my usual magic into it, hehehehe.
Chanelog updated ofcourse...

OK, now that the official Evox M8+ BIOS has came out, I've removed Yoshihiro's Evox M8 and the original official Evox M8.
They come in the 4 different types like ways
Still have to enter the MD5 signatures into various programs, but I'll do that when I have some spare time....

hi rs6_n2o,
With our last releases we did not DO BETA TESTING at all!!
We just did a quick test on our machines (DJB and forahobby) then released it.. This time there should be NO BUGS at all..
Just hang in there mate.. It will definately be worth it i tell ya!

That's correct. The only "testing" (if you could even call it that) was basically me and Forahobby set our xboxes up with it, and if that worked we released it. This is why I ended up releasing so many in a small amount of time (I think it was 4 installers in roughly 3-4 months).
Also, since I was using a new frontend for the main portion of the installer, I felt that I really had to raise the quality level this time around, not only to be a worthy competitor in the world of xbox installers, but to put a lot of them to shame as far as the quantity of apps and quality of the overall product.
It's good in a way that this one has taken so long, as it's allowed a lot of time for updates and improvements. Let's say for argument sake that I released beta 7 to the public as an official release, there would be no Evox M8+ BIOS which will be near vital from now on. You know, small things like that example that can really make a difference. For a good read, read my changelog from bottom to top, starting at beta 1. You'll see all the progress that can be made if you plan to allow more time for an installer. The last 4 installers I made (including the emulator installer) have no changelog, and no real tracking of progress. Atleast this time through you can see all the work put in.
Now that I've got a final build of a BIOS for the Xbox 1.6b, things are looking better than ever. This was my only major concern, so unless something major comes along (or an update of an exsisting program) I would declare the installer part of this project as FINAL
Just waiting on the last bit for it, and then it's ready...
I'd quickly like to pass my thanks to forahobby, realmccloy, and bobrownik for testing it out, I'm still waiting on word from sjohn on how it goes with softmodding though, but if it doesn't work it's not too much of a bother as the main target audience for this installer is people with modchips.
Anyways, not much longer...

How does one start off writing a new frontend then?? I, like Big Kev am fed up with Exov and I want something new. I'm looking for something that I can wipe the hdd with (after I have backed up my games and game saves of course) and completely replace Evox once and for all. I'm on a v1.1 XBOX chipped with an xecuter 2.3b lite and I must say its good for what it is. I got a 120gb hdd but I know it can take more.
Looking forward to the new release and any advice you could give on writing a new frontend
