What I meant was it takes a long time for Mame to load
each game when when it decompresses the zip files. The drive just chugs away and away. I do not touch the zip files and they stay zipped. It sounds like a badly fragmented drive.

Linux never fragments, i would say its just the size of the ROMs and the memory of the xbox is so small that it needs to cache all the info.
