You'll know if your hdd is about to pack it in by the sound of it. CLICKING etc plus occassionally the XBOX MOVIE (flubber intro) will be very slow and drop frames.. This is what has happened to a few ive fixed.

backing stuff up is always a good idea when you're modding and messing with files and ftp'ing and what not...better safe than sorry! _________________

It always starts with the ticking but that can last 1 min. to 1 year before the thing fully gives out, in most cases its best to assume that you got 1 min. left.

I read you opening statement and you say you deleted some important files. then all the problems started.. I don't know much but heres what I have...
electronics are going to be hott after being on...lol

all HDD's go tick....tick tick tickk tickkk tickk tickk because they are rading and writing information magnetically...lol
usually when I do this I stick my aid disk in so I ftp into my box and restore them with my C & E backups I have on disk and on my PC........
Usually when I screwup my box it takes a few times before it will actually not be mad at me.. _________________
