Ah, running through a hub, is there anyway you can plug the adapter into a free usb plug into you computer mb? I know transfers between two xbox's @8mb/s, just transfered 100gig between two xbox's using the xboxftp client that comes with AID. I use xbmc as my media player so I wanted to transfer all my files so I can have a set-up in the rec room as well as my repair room aka bedroom
Don't like hubs myself, never had anything to out do what I have for open ports. I use the ps2 connectors for my mouse/keyboard, which is one if not two spots in itself.
Glad to hear you're getting a NIC, almost garuntee this will solve most of your problems

I am self taught for computers and everything been trial and error for me. Im consider the "go to guy" at my high skool when somone computer blows up. I hope that pci nic card solves your problem. I see no reason y it wont. Maybe windows is jus being gay?!!?? Microsoft takes short cuts in their work _________________ http://firestream.net/h4sigs/gen/BlAcKk%20MaGiiK_130515060912.jpg

usb adapters have a max power on 500mah, that's lower then a double A batt., nic running in pci epress have a transfer rate of 2.5ghz which is like god knows how many times more powerful then a usb,
ur Anti-Virus may limiting the speeds cuse i have kaspersky 7 and it have on active scan so it scans everything going and coming to my vista com. if i shut off my AV my speeds almost double everytime

you do know that power consumption and frequency are two diferrent things eh? If he was using 50ft of usb cable to run his router, that might be an issue, due to running 5v for usb, and the total resistance may reduce it to less than 3.8v which sends it into fuzzy logic and things go wierd, where as data transmission through cat5e cable takes a lot of resistance before communication breakdown, more in the problems of corrupt data, or loss of signal. I don't ask why the 50ft of ethernet, but if they they are setting up home networking, then this is a feasible length. I beleive it is the hub because of the sharing of one address setting for all hardware and it's trying to split things up to the best of it's ability, which will slow down data transmission between two points. Oh ya, and ethernet does have a higher transmission speed than usb, just read the manual for the modem/router and it says to connect it to your ethernet when possible

I go about 1 bit per second using my 286dx chip, with my 1 mb simm ramm and my 1.5gb ide hdd kickin high 3200 rpm.... got me a serial port link to a RJ45 through a jar of grape jelly and an electric eel...
Honestly unless you have a true Gigabit Router with a Gigabit card in the pc using Cat6, the best setup your going to use is either.
1.) SuperG TB100 router, with Cat5e
2.) Straight up Cat5e crossover Pc to Xbox
====
now depending on what progs your using and if the rights ports are enabled and at max cap then your sol stuck in slomode.....

Let us know how things go when you get your card, and if you are still going slow, post a new topic in computer related forum, and link it to us from here. We're starting to get away from xbox general disscusions!
Thanks and good luck

Fellas,
First, thanks to everyone who's helped me out.
I am still waiting for my NIC.
However - I was talking to a friend who gave me the thing, and I think the solution is obvious. I was thrown off, and therefore I threw everyone off, by the marking on the USB adapter which claims it's a 10/100 mbit. It's a USB 1.1 device! It will get 12 mbits at best, and im not even getting half that. Both Belkin, and I, are dumb. Why would they mark a USB 1.1 at 100? How did I miss something so obvious?
I assumed it was 2.0, so I was wrong when you suggested I check to make sure everything was 2.0.
I predict my NIC will solve my problem and I will be crusing along at a reasonable speed.
I will keep you all posted.
Again, thanks for the help. _________________ Dash: not sure

post the model number and let's see what's going on with the adapter. Maybe there's a peedbooster patch or something to get it up to 100mb/s.
