Did u create an ISO with the back up of ur XBOX HDD and EEPROM? U burn that to disc and boot off that with ur PC. I like to change my CMOS settings to boot to CD as primary. I'm not at home so I'm drawing a blank on program I used to create that ISO. _________________

im not at home either, so i cant remember the media that iburned it to. i know that it was a dvdr. i ftp'd to the xbox and copied the c and e drives. the c drive didnt have anything on it. the e had emulators and evox installed as an app, along with chimp and dvd2xbox all installed from the big disk with all the xbox software on it that i downloaded(cant remember the name of it) i then backed up the eeprom with config magic. ftp'd that backup to the eeprom folder on the boot disk maker. placed all the c and e drive stuff in the appropriate folder and then created the iso. i burned it with dvd decryptor and magic iso. i also tried the eeprom backup that evox makes to no avail.

That's why because C drive folder can't be blank. It has to have ur M$ dash in it. Also if it's giving u an error on bootup to PC then it may have been a bad burn or bad ISO. U'll need to recreate the ISO. I use Nero to burn the ISO to DVD-R. _________________

ok that would explain why it was asking for a cd drive... and the /dev stuff. so when i get MSdash off of the disk i have should i just copy it into the c folder? im getting excited ha ha hopefully this works. could that also be the reason chimp freezes up?

Yeah, put the M$ dash files in ur C drive. This allows xboxhdm to create a XBOX factory drive from default. The EEPROM on ur ISO allows for the unlock/lock tools to be available with xboxhdm.
Chimp has nothing to do with the boot disc. Not sure why Chimp is freezing on u. I haven't had to use it yet. Probably will use CHIMP when I upgrade again to an even bigger HDD. _________________

yeah i know it has nothing to do with the boot disc. I was just thinkin that it could have had something to do with chimp freezin. oh well, im hopeful that this works. do i have to rename any of the files when i copy them to c or just let it install? and then do the copy of the eeprom and drives and then the iso all over.

No there's a program that creates the ISO with all those files for u. I can't remember the name right now but I'll check my PC for the name when I get home from work later. _________________

OK, in xboxhdm there is a file u run called make-iso-win U should have a folder within ur xboxhdm folder on ur PC called Linux. In that Linux folde u should have a directory structure something like this
C
E
eeprom
F
isolinux
xbox
ABOUT_THIS_CD.txt
check
readme.txt
The ISO will be created with all these files and folders. Hope this makes sense. _________________

yeah i know how to make the iso and all i was just triple checkin. For some reason i cant seem to get the MS folder moved/copied to the C partition. Any thoughts on that, it gives a an error 1392 and when i view it it says that it cant create the file. Im going to try to copy the ms folder and the put it in the C folder on the ISO maybe that will work>?

Nah, u can get the M$ dash online from anywhere. U don't have to copy ur C drive off ur XBOX to ur PC. U just need the M$ dash files in general. _________________

ok well i got a new hd today. installed all the stuff to it and now i cant get it to lock. i choose option 3 and then it scans a bunch of stuff... then says cant find linux disk. In my looking around for an answer i found a couple of posts about hard drive freezing. i ran option 6 on my disk and it says that my hd is in freeze mode. there is no option in my bios to turn it off and on. What should i try next different comp?

There's tools on the xboxhdm disc that allow u to lock/unlock HDD but requires u having the the EEPROM backed up on that disc. _________________

i tried the option 3 linux based locking and unlocking should i try the dos mode option 4? when i tried option 3 it looked for the cd and couldnt find it. i have the eeprom on the iso in the eeprom folder. in the dos mode i have to manually enter the lock code. On a positive note (meaning i finally got some stuff to work ) i did try the HD out after i booted up with my original drive and everything seemed to be working. could i possibly boot up with my original drive then lock the new drive with evox or something and then go from there? that might just be to easy. lol
