There are only a couple viruses out that you can get on a Mac so far compared to thousands on Windows and if you keep everything updated you never really have to worry about them. I've never got a virus prog and never had a single virus on my Mac. I installed the prog my brother had on his scanned and had 0 viruses so I just got rid of the prog. Also I've never even thought of putting IE on my mac with how much faster and more reliable firefox and safari are. I don't reall even understand why Windows comes w/ IE anymore it should just have firefox, flock, or avant. _________________

You're damn lucky then man. I've had 1 PC that never got a virus and that's cause I had it updated whenever anything came out and I never downloaded anything on it. You have to admit though Windows isn't as secure as OSX. I mean just look at all the ways people can use backdoors to get in a PC and how much easier it is to code a virus for windows or linux. _________________

My PC isn't much to talk about except the fact that it is running XP, Vista, Mac OSX, and Fedora Core 6. Best of everything. The Mac OSx on the pc is a bit buggy, but works good enough for testing.

Yeah you can't expect OSX to run great on a PC just wasn't made for it. _________________

Yeah, the only reason it is on there at all is for my testing inside of my Server 2003 domain. Helps me test permission problems, exchange problems, and many other issues that arise when trying to make Macs play nice with a Windows network. Much easier to test these things in my own environment than in a customer environment, they don't like you screwing with their stuff unless necessary.

I'm not sure what is going on with that, because whoever I post after in a forum, it says that I have that exact same setup. Does the same thing in the thread I opened earlier about softmod harddrives. My first post was clean, then it mirrored whoever I posted after from that point on. It is very wierd.

Interesting glitch. I had noticed it earlier, and assumed something of that nature, but didn't really see an issue with it, just means that I have lots of different setups.

I got the hint. At one point that was filled out. At one point a lot of things were filled out in my profile. This is what happens when you leave a forum for a long time, stuff just disappears. The last time I was active on HQ, before this week, was when I was running a VIP FTP Server and created my one and only tutorial I ever wrote. Those were the days, when I actually had a lot of free time.

my AMD server doesn't have 1 virus and I don't even have SP1 much less a virus scanner (I do occasionally check, though, with Hiren's Boot CD, that's how I know). I think the updates make you more vulnerable. I always have hated SP2...

SP2 has its problems, but it does bring about some good things for the system stability. Of course it also brings out other instabilities. Such is the way of the computer world.
