i would have to rename it so its compatible with fatx, and then if i needed to access that media from my laptop i would have to copy the files back over which can be slow.
would like a solution that would let both the laptop and xbox access the drive easily

I dont know why you wold need to convert it your xbox hdd is set to fatx and it shares media with the pc just fine.

Run down to Goodwill, they usually have a pII sitting in the back for about 30-50 bucks... Throw 2 500gb's in it and a nic card, and BAM! there's a server... that should work fine for something like that. It can sit in the closet, and you'll never have to touch it again. _________________
