What I mean is, I transfer both the loader and the mechassault game saves to the xbox using the action replay (the action replay software wont recognize any normal memory card), and then booted mechassault, and loaded the "Run Linux" game save from the campaign screen. The second I run the save, the screen goes black, and the light on the xbox goes orange..........and it appears its off at that point....and just hangs there.
If it helps:
- I am using Action Replay to transfer the files to the xbox
- I have a box made in 2003, Week 36, in China (so either v1.4 or 1.5)
When I load SID 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0.... loading the game save results in a black screen, orange light.
When I load SID 3.1, it hangs on a black screen and the xbox's light is green.
When I load any other softmod, it leads to error 21 (I am guessing this is because the other mods are only the mech file but it might be looking for another (like how SID has a sep one for the installer).

I am beginning to lose hope :/ I am thinking my xbox just isn't going to cut me any slack . I don't know why but this is always my luck (always). When everyone else is doing something, and i want to do it to.....whatever it is.....frackin breaks or impossible.
On the positive note.....I won an Xbox 360!!! Sent right to my door!
I just need to test backwards compatibility still...but as long as it works....im just going to attempt to hard-mod the regular xbox (although I don't trust my solder skills). Unless anyone else has any ideas on my soft mod issue lol :/

i have tried to get sid5 to work but i think i am missing some step somewere.
1, i can get sid5 in and save the MS, Eprom to the E-backup.
2, i can get the evoX/unleash to load.
i cant load my disks to the HDD.
Is there anyone who has successfully installed SID5, any advice would be a great help.

How big is the HDD in your XBox?
If its the stock standard one you wont be able to fit games on there.

1, The HDD is the stock one.
When i installed the SID5 in the user guide i belive it states to exacute install.xbe? (i am not at my home pc now) and there are some other steps i think that i did wrong. Also after installing there is no folder under the E:/SID5.
2, Is there a beter user guide that i can download"
What i would like to do is get SID5 to work propperly on the stock HDD and Clone or copy the files to a new larger HDD, i tried to save a game to it to test it. Maby i should try a Emulater or something other then a game.

I am having the exact same problem as you are. Ive tried all the different saves with the selected games but once i go to load the save it takes me to a black screen where the light stays a solid orange. I used a modded xbox to copy over the files though and using a modded xbox to try and run the patch on my little bros hard drive.

thanks you DJB, the HDD is a stock on e so i tried to backup a dome of OXM and it worked the next step for me is to clone to a larger HDD. thank you for the great software.

Did you remove the game fromthe DVD drive before rebooting the system, if not it will just reload the game you using.

It's the Action Replay Memory cards that are doing it, they are known not to be that good. I always recommend buying a genuine M$ memory card. That'sa all I've used since day one and never had a problem.

I knew it would be something stupid like that.... I was working with him for abit last night trying to find a solution. He was ready to throw his xbox out the window after all the versions we went through. I figured I'd point him to this topic and youd eventually see it.

This is probably a stupid question, but I've only really used SID 3.1. I used SID 5.1 on my coworkers box and it works fine, but he wants to put a larger drive in it. I know we already backed up the eeprom somewhere during the main install, what is that exact path? If all else fails I'll just use another Xbox utility to get it, I'm just curious as to where that original eeprom backup was located.
