So this AID thing actually autoinstalls the softmod? That'd be great because ya, slayer's is only good for fixing a messed up hard drive before modding it. So you're saying if I go with the hot swap meathod with that AID DVD in the modded box, it will automatically mod the second box without FTP? Because slayer's was supposed to do that, but it's always been flawed.

AID can install a softmod, but I dunno if this will work. I'm not that clued on on hotswapping as I've never had to do it.
When I have to create a new HDD (usually for softmodded boxes) I use my modchipped box with AID to set it all up. I'll install the softmod and apps I want, then go to configmagic and load in the eeprom and lock the drive. However that is a different scenario to what you have...

Basically what hotswap does is uses an unlocked HD from another box as it's own after it's swapped. So the HD will then also use the resources from the "modded" box (DVD drive, network card, etc.

Well thanks for the help guys. It was actually the CDR that was the problem. I went out after work last night and bought a pack of DVD+Rs that worked great. Having another problem now . For some reason, I'm having a problem making a hard drive with HDM now. I know I'm doing everything right because I've done this before..... It's REALLY easy, but I tried two hard drives in the same Xbox and it won't take. I know that the HD is locked for the Xbox though because I can hotswap it and write to it, but even when I try to mod it that way, I get nothing. It loads games, but it won't load a dashboard, so I don't think the hard drives are the issue. After I tried to hotswap mod it, I also ended up with an error 13. Before the hotswap, the hard drive stuck at the "X" logo with the "Microsoft" in white on the bottom. I know my jumpers are set to "cable select" also. Not to mention, HDM seemed to go through the process flawlessly. I cut NOTHING out of the C and E drives when I moved them over from my box to begin with. I never had this much trouble in the past softmodding boxes and creating new drives. Any help here?

HDM went smooth. Everything acted like it was working. EVERYTHING. Until I put the drive back in the box.

Just what I said above . It loaded the "X" and the "Microsoft" logo (white one) and then just stopped. It did load games though, so I know for a fact that the hard drive was unlocked. I hotswapped it again and deleted the dashboard files on the C drive, and tried to rewrite them, but still.....nothing. I suppose I'm not sure what help I'm hoping to get here, since it truely doesn't make sense.

You may want to try and wipe the e drive then also and see if that helps, you will loose gamesaves and other info that is stored there. _________________

Ya, I did a full format with HDM last night when I went home and tried it again. Still had nothing so I popped in Slayers (I'm still trying to download that AID program. There are hardly any seeders) and made a retail hard drive out of it which worked flawlessly. Booted up to MS dash and all. So I figured I could hotswap it once more and just mod it as if it was a brand new Xbox....... Nothing yet again, did it twice. So I turned it back into a retail drive, and that's where it sits now until I go home tonight and try yet again to figure out why the world and Microsoft hate me.

Isn't 60 seeders enough for you? lol That's plenty. Go to www.aideluxe.com if you haven't already and grab the torrent file from there, which is the official torrent link.

Success!!! I don't know why it worked this time around, but it did. HDM still failed to work, but I did yet another format, this time with Slayers and wrote all of the files back to the box and it worked. Still don't know what was wrong, but it works now. And that AID torrent won't go past 4 flippin percent for me.

It's got to be something wrong with your end, possibly either your Bit Torrent client or a Firewall blocking something.
