My son has just chipped his box and i have been using my computer to do all the backing up. I have the house networked though a hub and as there is only 1 RJ45 socket in his room i thought i would grab another hub and hub his xbox and computer. There seems to be a bit of a problem though. When i installed FlashFXP and try and connect to his xbox it keeps tring to connect to the computer no matter what IP i ell it to connect to, also Craxtion cant find either. Could someone tell if if this should work and i possible how to fix. What i have is an ethernet switch and i have set IP's as static as well. I have assigned all computers an ip and also the xbox. If i use my computer which is the gateway computer i can hook into his xbox but when i try to use his it wont. And use XP as well

Okay, I'm not exactly sure, but I might have a few things that could prove to be of some help.
The first house I lived in (with roomates) we only had one router, everyhting worked fine. The next house I moved to, we used two routers, with both set as simultanious routers. With it set up this way I could only access my xbox from the gateway computer. We changed one router at act as an access point and the other to act as the main router. Since then we havent had any problems accessing the xbox.

OK, lets break this down
You have and xbox and a pc in room one, connected to a hub which is in turn connected to another hub in room 2. Right?
When you say your machine can talk to the xbox, do you mean through the hub in room 2 and not by moving it to room 1 and plugging into that hub?
Can the computer in Room 1, ping the IP of the computer in room 2?
Can the computer int Room1 ping the IP of the XBOX
Can you list the IP`s of all the Machines on your Network and what Hub/switches your using? _________________ TCBM
