Hi,
First of all, I've to say that I'm a new to the xbox world.
I've already read a lot (it's been a few nights&days I'm hanging with the problem), but apparently not enough!
I've just bought an Xbox v1.1 (chipmoded) hoping to change HDD and to install XBMC on it.
So I put the new & empty disc in the box, restarted with aide. It proposed formatting the disc, great!
After formatting, only 136Go (more or less) where recognised out of my 500Go.
So after reading, it seems to be a well known issue, I need to format using XBPartitioner and 32/64k cluster (now its 16k!).
But, when I launched this tool, it said that my bios isn't compatible with LBA48.
After reading, I've found that I would need to flash the bios to a more uptodate version. But, I'm a bit afraid to do that. When I opened the xbox, the chipmode seemed to be a bit "stranged" : no named on it (it has been erased) and it seemed to be something like an EasyChip but no sure. Anyway, I don't to crash it all!
So after reading a bit more, I've discovered what seems to be the solution for me : PBL Metoo.
I'm now trying to install it from AIDE but did not managed yet... Black screen on startup or Error13 or Error21. Anyway, it seems that I'm not doing what I'm expected to!
So can anyone explain me the steps for installing PBL MeToo & XBMC?
Thanks in advance, first for having read this kind of litterature, second for bringing me out of the dark!

You might be better of using the AID BIOS flash tool and switching the BIOS to an evox build or X-2 build.

Thanks for your help...
Sure it would be easier, but I don't know anything from my current bios & chip, and flashing it in a wrong way would be desastrous!
So I'd rather use the PBL way...
If you'd like more info about my installation, feel free to ask!
Wes is right, your`e better off flashing a more recent bios on there, sounds like whatever one you are using doesnt have LBA48 support - thats why you only get 137GB.
Try running the bios checker app to see what you are currently running.
Using the AID bios flash option loads EvoX - if you were to flash a 256kb bios file to your chip and its not the correct size, EvoX will create a 512 or 1024kb bios file out of it. (it wont make a 512 or 256 out of a 1024kb file though, use a 256kb bios file if you are unsure) _________________

So, let's go deeper in this way.
I've already runned the bios checker app, it said my bios is "UNKNOWN"... great...
So, as you said, I can, without any risk, flash my Bios using "AID bios flash option" and select a 256ko. It will automatically adapt it to my chip requirement. Seems great.
But as the bios checker is unable do detect what kind of bios is mine, would the bios flash tool be able to expand from 256k to the correct size (which it might not be aware of!)
Run AID and launch the bios flash option - Dont attempt any flashing yet but when the flasher loads somewhere near the top it should tell you your bios version.
Can you post a pic of your chip ? _________________

Sorry to jump on this thread but I've the exact same problem.
I have an unknown Aladdin modchip and BIOS not identified by BIOSChecker 5 on AID 4.7.
I booted Slayers and backed up the EEPROM and BIOS and loaded the BIOS.bin into xbtool which told me it was a non-standard (MD5 hash doesn't match any in the list) 'Evo M7' BIOS.
Current HDD is a locked 40Gb upgrade I did many years ago so this old BIOS doesn't currently matter.
Wanting to put a drive bigger than 137 Gb in I need LBA enabled so I was planning to put Evo X M8+ on or simply modify my BIOS to enable it in xbool but wanted to be certain it'd work beforehand.
I'm trying to use PBL to ascertain this but I can't get it to work.
My dash is evoxdash.xbe (the first file my current bios looks for according to xbtool) in c:/ which is a shortcut to e:apps/xbmc/default.xbe made by using xbe shortcut maker.
Any help on how to configure PBL to update the c: dash to test compatibility would be great. I don't want to try to use EvoX bios flash with M8+ only to find my modchip is screwed or not compatible to flash it this way.
Thanks in advance.

You shouldnt need to change bios you can run a 1tb hdd on a softmodded xbox which uses a retail bios. It should just be the formating and enabling G. UBD4 works great for formating, then just either go into settings and enable g or edit the config\ini to enable G
Then I used xFlash v2 (better support for Aladdin) and copied the EvoX.M8+.fc.127GB.bin BIOS file into the 'flash' directory of xFlash v2.
FTP'd the directory inc. BIOS to f:/apps/ and ran it.
Flash worked a treat once I used the 256k one; copied it along with the 1Mb one as I wasn't sure on size.
All ready to go once the SATA>IDE vertical bridge turns up and I've picked a new SATA HDD to go in [/url]
