Post subject: Easy way to "clone" two softmodded XBOXes?

I have a v1.6 softmodded xbox with XBMC as the default dash. It has a bunch of applications already loaded on it. I plan on getting another XBOX and doing a softmod on it using Krayzie's Ndure Installer 1.1.1 and Splinter Cell.

After I have softmodded the new XBOX, I would like to make a copy of the old XBOX (i.e., "clone" it so that I have two XBOXes that are set up exactly the same, with the same settings and programs, etc.). Once I have the two softmodded XBOXes networked together, can I simply FTP all files from C, E, and Q drives on the old XBOX to the relevant drives on the new XBOX?

If not, any suggestions on how I might go about "cloning" one softmodded XBOX to another softmodded XBOX? (BTW, I have a NAS and ftp software on my computer so could store files there before transferring to the new XBOX).

Are there any files I should avoid copying over to the new XBOX?

Thanks for your help!

Theres a folder called user data in your xbmc directory.... That contains all your settings and stuff. Im pretty sure it has all of them. If someone could confirm this, that would be great Cool

Thanks for the reply bongripz216. However, I am actually interested in copying all files (not just XBMC-related) to the new machine (i.e., ALL content in the E, Q, and, if possible, the C drive).

Ultimately, I would like to have two XBOXes that had the exact same content (applications, files, settings, etc.).

I'm assuming it is possible to copy all files within the E and Q drives, but need confirmation. However, I'm not sure if I can (or need to) do anything with the C drive (assuming that it may have some console specific files on it or files that may not be overwritten because they are being used by the unit while it is running).

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I'm not sure what you mean by q drive... I think that would be your memory card. All your apps and stuff you can just send over though no problem.

My Q drive is 4.0 GB (perhaps it is labelled differently in different consoles). My E drive is also 4.0 GB, C drive is 322.1 MB, without any memory card installed.

Thanks for letting me know I can transfer everything over with no problem.

You can FTP all your files from your other xbox then put them on the new one. Easiest way.

Nah, Q is quite normal for some v1.6 Xbox's. My brother-in-law has a Q drive on his box too.

As for files, yeah, just FTP over what you need. Just don't replace the original eeprom or anything when you do, otherwise you're going to be in a spot of bother.

Thanks FC. Could you clarify what other files (or if it easier, folders) I should avoid replacing? I'm a bit leary (and, admittedly, ignorant) of the "or anything" part and would like to avoid being in a spot of bother.

Thanks again!

Just to check beforehand, do you know if there is actually anything on the C drive that you need to replace? I just wonder why you are transferring the C across. The E: and F: I can understand.

Thanks for your help everyone. I will copy my Q and E drives over to the new xbox and leave the C drive alone.

Cheers!
