Let me start by saying that I am a complete n00b when it comes to linux. I am however a good learner, and am willing to listen. That being said, onto the problem.

I installed x-dsl from my copy of aid 3.10. When i run the app it starts loading ad then when it gets to the part where you pick from cd/hdd ect.., I can't do anything at all. I let it sit for a moment, and it will continue and get the "starting linux" msg at the bottom. A moment or two later, the msg dissapears, and it just hangs there.

Next to Fatx it says No MBR. The rest is as follows.

- 993410 bytes_
Loading minirt24.gz from fatx - 199513 199513 bytes
Bootconfig : Kernal /linux24
Bootconfig : lnitrd(sp?, Hard to read on my tv) /minirt24.gz
Bootconfig : kernal commandline :
root=/dev/ram0 init=/ect/init rw video=xbox:640x480
utc mydsl=hda50 joy quiet kbd-reset
kernal: 2.4.31 - xbox (root@richard) #1 Mon Aug 1 21:17:45 BST 2005

That's it. It doesn't do anything else. I've heard of loop back, and native install, but don't know how to do them. I did read somewhere though that a native install would overwrite everything on my f: drive. Don't want that cus then i'd had to break out my originals and get to copying all over again.

I'm softmodded, with unleashx as my dash. I'm using my wireless controller to navigate. Need to go pick up a wireless keyboard/mouse.

This may be a simple issue, but like i said I'm still a n00b with linux. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, i've deleted xdsl, and tried another 3 0r 4 distro's. Ftp'd all but one, ran that one from cd. All are doing the same thing. Saying that there's no mbr.

I'm not using the stock hdd, but the hdd i am using is locked and working.

Linksboks works, sorta. Feels like i'm uses windows 3.1.

Nothin at all? Sad

I've tried installing to the f drive now as well. Both with AID and by ftp. Then i read a post where someone had installed xdsl on the e drive, but then had to make a knoppix folder inside the apps folder as well in order to get it to load. I tried that and still the same thing.

Not only does it always say fatx no mbr, but i have no response from my controller. The icons show up at the bottom of the screen. I just can't do anything about it. I have wireless controllers btw.
