Hey all!

To show my appreciation for everthing that forahobby has done for this community, and me personally...I want to have a contest. The winner will get a Jewel LED mod kit to light up their Xbox. The color choices are red, blue or green.

I will post pics of the jewels they can choose from once we get underway.

This is a contest for tutorial submission. The tutorial must be original and geared toward xbox modding. DJB, forahobby, and myself will decide the best tutorial. The contest will start on October 1st and end on October 15th.

A runner up will get to choose a skin from http://www.themodgod.com

Tutorials can be concering anything from chip install, bios flashing, xbmc streaming, use your imagination. I am looking for very fresh informative tutorials. The xbox modding technology is growing in leaps and bounds and I thought this would be a fresh way of updating our tutorials!

I appreciate anyone that contributes. All you need to do is submit the tutorial and then email me at webmaster@themodgod.com

In the subject line input HQTutorial Contest.

I will need your name, HQ username, and name of tutorial submitted.

On the 15th I will put a little document together for DJB and forahobby so they know all entries and we will take seven days to review all the tutorials. If we can do sooner than 7 then we'll announce the winners earlier.

Depending on the amount of feedback and entries we get, I will do another one of these and I will up the prize value!! It will be a new contest for something other than tutorials so everyone can be involved.

Maybe it will even be a full blown xbox mod!! You never know!

Again, thanks for contributing to an awesome site! Hope to see lots of entries.

Obviously I'm too noobish to actually write a tutorial without basically copying someone's, or writing one with no actual experience of actually doing the mod, which I don't think is a good idea, but, I am offering my services as a real no0b to see if they are no0b friendly. If thats what you are after, I'm not 100% sure.

Use me if you want.

Hell, I'll even give this service for free Smile

Yes, maybe I should have been more clear. I am not looking for the most technically advanced tutorial. I am looking for just a fresh tutorial. Something that maybe hasn't been done. Or something that has been done and improved on.

I don't care if it's a case painting tutorial, how to stream using XBMC, a softmodding tutorial, or a tutorial on how to light up a S-Controller. Just looking for new stuff. I am not going to make my decision based on how advanced the tutorial is. Just on how helpful I think it is. I can write a tutorial on how to rebuild the LPC but that doesn't mean it can be used by a majority of people.....it can only be used by the person who actually needs to rebuild the LPC.

I am just looking for something that any modder no matter what level of experience they are at can use. After all, that is what we are here for...to help the masses not the individuals. There are so many tutorials out there, so I am just looking for something that is fresh. It can even be about an existing tutorial, but perhaps a different spin or method to get to the same result.

Sorry if you think the contest is unfair...there will be more for sure. I'll try to be more considerate in the next batch. Personally, I think anyone who writes a tutorial has a shot at it.

I tell you what I'll do. I will give a LED mod kit to the best tutorial, then I will take every username that wrote one and put their names in a hat and draw one person to also get a LED mod kit. I'll jus eliminate the runner up skin?

That way, anyone who writes one has an equal shot at winning something. How's that sound? Is the warm and fuzzy feeling back?? Wink

later man

ps. I may not actually have a hat during the pull of winner, a bowl may be used in it's place. Cool

Hey bud, that is the area on the Motherboard (you will also see people call the motherboard 'MB' or 'mobo') that the modchip get's affixed to.

There are few ways you can attach it to the LPC. You will see a series of holes in a little rectangle. See pic below.

Notice that this one already has pins coming up through and have solder on them. This is after I have already soldered a pinheader in place to attach a modchip to. This is the bottom of the mobo. This is a 1.6 version that I am about to rebuild the LPC on. What I mean by rebuilding the LPC is, on 1.6 version xbox's MS made some nasty changes. There is no TSOP (chip that holds bios), and you have to rebuild the LPC by running five extra wires from certain points on the mobo to the pinheader points.

I put the tape around...I know it looks funny....in the event of solder splash. I have been getting a lot of solder jump lately so I just lay down a little electrical tape so I don't get any fiascos. Some times I don't see the solder splash/jump so I do this to ward against it.

I hope that helps you better understand what rebuilding the LPC means and what the LPC is. Here is a pic of a rebuilt LPC after I did a 1.6

Take it easy man!

Yup,

Great RM.. Sounds good to me bro..!

Members:
We want all your tutorials no matter how simple you think they may be.. Try to always include SCREENSHOTS of what you are talking about..

To take a Screenshot on your PC of the active window you just hold Alt and press 'Print Screen'.. If you want to take a screenshot of the whole desktop or applications showing just press 'Print Screen' without hold Alt.

Ive started writing my own tutorials only just recently but obviously will not be entering in the competitions..

Can wait to see what you can all come up with..

cheers,

forahobby

Good point forahobby. If anyone has problems adding screen shots or images to their tutorial, then let me know. I'll upload the photos for you if need be.

Also, if you can do it in a PDF format that would be great too, but anyway we get tuts is fine by me!

I hope to get a lot of entries!!

Yep I'll make the request that the tutorials be in PDF format also.

If you can not, please make sure you use proper formatting with word (like page breaks etc.) so it's easier for me to convert.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what our members can come up with in this competition. If you need some ideas on how you should lay out the tutorials, take a look at the last couple by myself and forahobby.

Good luck to everyone having a go at this, looking forward to learning a thing or two from you maybe Wink
