Ok... I bought an xbox from a guy a couple years ago. I was never able to get XBMP to work, but I didn't really care. Now I want to use XBMC as my primary dash. When I load EvoX it says the BIOS is unknown. So I figured I had to flash the BIOS and then XBMC would work. I tried using AID 3.1 but the thing just boots, 30 seconds later I see the AID splash screen, it fades out, then 30 seconds later there is the splash screen again.
So, I then found Slayer's installer. I tried using it to install XBMC just to make sure my FTP one I did wasn't the problem. But XBMC still didn't work. I then tried to flash the BIOS using Slayer's, it just stays on "erasing". I was never really sure if there was even a chip in there, so I took apart the box and sure enough there isn't a chip.
Last week I ordered a 2.6 CE with Xapt3r, I got the thing installed, the blue lights come on when the Xapt3r is plugged in. I then tried using flashbios 3.01 which was already on bank 1. I guess I got a bad flash because now the thing powers on/off/on/off/on red/green flash, when the chip is on. When the chip is off it still boots to EvoX. I have also tried with it set to bank 2 and the same thing happens.
I tried flashing again using Slayer's, same thing, it freezes on erasing. and I still can't load AID 3.1. I don't have a programmer, and I don't really want to buy one if I don't have to.
Xbox is version 1.4 I believe, HDD is 300 GB, Samsung DVD-ROM drive.
Thanks to anyone who can help and sorry for the long post.

I'm not too familiar with the 2.6 but if you have flashed both banks you may need a programmer to correct this. My only recommendation is read as much as you can, use the correct bios for the chip, I think it is "X2 5035" for your system, and ask questions before you go too far. No one here will ever give you a hard time for asking the right questions after doing your homework.

Trust me, I have done plenty of homework on this one. I did a bunch of homework to figure out why I couldn't get XMBC to work without a chip... I never got an answer from anyone when I finally posted, so I bought a chip. I read a bunch waiting for it to get here. Then it didn't work for some reason, so I read a lot more, couldn't find an answer really, so I posted. After not recieving a reply for a few days I got impatient and I figured I would have to get a programmer anyways, so I ordered that yesterday. I have been trying to get this stupid thing to work for nearly a month now. HOPEFULLY the programmer fixes it.
Thank you very much for replying.

No prob. But do yourself a favor and stay away from the slayers stuff, it tends to cause problems. Use AID3.10, you will be much happier with the results, and there is alot of great tools that can help you.

Ok, I used the programmer and it flashed it fine... I got the right BIOS on there, and was able to use the AID disc, WOOHOO!!! Only one problem now... The games I had on F are no longer showing up, I used the One-click install to install XMBC as the main Dash. The games are still there because there is only 40 GB free on the F drive which has a 200 GB partition I think. They don't even show up in FTP... Any suggestions?
