I am about to softmod my fourth xbox for a family member and have used the splinter cell guide on your website each time before with no problems.....plus the info to use the NKpatcher which i got from somewhere in the past....
After reading "Tips to a flawless Sid 2 / Sid 3 Please read!!" i am now a bit puzzled.
Are there some xboxes that will not softmod using this method or am i just getting worried over nothing?
Thanks in advance.

Yup,
Nothing to worry about.. SID3 works on all xbox versions..
Its been tested by 100's of 1000's of guys by now..
Ive personally installed the SID softmods onto XBOX versions v1.6b v1.6 v1.5 and v1.0
so thats a pretty wide range,.. im happy with that..
I went ahead and did it anyway.......no problems at all.
I just wondered why other methods were posted in the main READ PLEASE!! thread if there was nothing wrong with the official method given.
One mroe question please....can i delete both splinter cell files from gamesaves after install?
I have already removed the smaller file as i suspected that would be safe.
Cheers guys.

You can delete the gamesaves, but you shouldn't. The softmodded xbox runs fine without the gamesaves, but if you (or the family member you modded it for) ever mess something up in the harddrive, it can be a bitch to fix. On my first softmod (a retail xbox hard drive), I deleted the gamesave and then stupidly deleted some shit in the c: drive. After that, I would only get the xbox error screen. I could boot up games from the dvd drive, but because the gamesave was gone, I couldn't access the splinter cell exploit that would allow me to ftp to my xbox to replace the files i deleted!!! so that hard drive sat in a box in my closet for about 4 months until i found pirrups tut on hotswapping. it scared the shit out of me to hotswap, but it worked!! i now have that retail hdd and 2 upgraded hdds all softmodded and with the gamesaves on the drive. you never know when you'll need them again. KEEP EM IN THERE!! _________________ XBOX v1.6:

That is useful to know, thanks.
I have been thinking though......
You said your xbox would still boot up games. Do you mean all discs or just originals?
If any disc can still be booted up then surely it must be possible to boot up a version of unleashx on disc with the gamesave manager installed.
Then would it not be possible to transfer the gamesaves back to the xbox again?
