Hi guys,
Well after a night of finally getting to do some gaming online i played a bit of both xbconnect and xlink kai..Let me just start by saying both are great applications and are very similar really..
I used to always bad mouth XLINK KAI as it was buggy in the first versions and always if never worked.. lol But i can now take back those comments totally.. XBCONNECT does have its followers but no where near as many as they used to.. Im now seeing alot or guys moving over XLINK.. (good).
With XLINKKAI as soon as you insert your username and password information into XBMC and start the PC CLIENT you can browse to see whos online playing what..
I havent tested yet but it seems you can chat via your mic too in the gui.
Sounds nice..
The main advantage for xlink kai is that you do not ever need to get onto your PC to change rooms, host games etc etc.. (unlike xbconnect).. Its more like a xbox live setup where you can have your friends, games and even a cool chatroom..
Dont mind me guys.. I just thought id share some info with those users who are looking for a free online gaming alternative rather then the costly XBOX LIVE..
Some tips for router setup:
Just remember you will always need to PORT FORWARD PORT 8602 to your PC for XLINK KAI and XBCONNECT.. Otherwise you wont get to play much.. heheh
Its also smart to forward port 3000 UDP/TCP to the XLINK PC running the client software..
anyway, just my 2 cents..

If anyone is interested and is always online playing XLINK KAI please contact me.. Im going to start spending some time myself playing..
Ive been working too much lately and need a break.

Oh, I am totally down for playing some online gaming with my friends here at Xbox-HQ! Sign me up. I'm usually always on XBLive after work but since I should be recieving my X3CE and X3CP tomorrow, after I get that installed, I'll setup XLink and try and find you guys. Its taken me about half a day to get used to how it all works. But once you do.. Well what can i say..?!?
Ive been playing alot of Halo2 with guys from washington and all over the USA.. No lag at all.. Ive been getting fragged like a mo fo..
Im always playing halo2, rallisport challenge 2, or Project Gotham.. There always seems guys ready to play..
So get you buts into XLINK kai.. ADD ME to your BUDDIES 'xbox-hq.com'..

Something like you have already..
Get all HQ members to add HQ- in front of their name..
or even XBOXHQ-..
Let me know what everyone thinks.. I dont care about signing up again..

You know, I think that is a GREAT idea. That way, if we ever did start up a clan type atmosphere, everyone would already have the same naming convention and not have to re-signup. I'm thinking go with your unique username followed by XBOX-HQ. So for example, my tag would be "T-RizzleXBOX-HQ" Sounds and looks awesome to me. Sounds like a good plan guys. I agree with xlink being the way to go.....I barely get on there but when I do my name is G13Kron but I will keep checking back to this forum and see what you guys decide to do with putting xboxhq or whatever you decide in front or behind the names.
