the SWF tutorial doesn't explain how you get ConfigMagic to run.

what tutorial are you reffering to? and to run ConfigMagic you select it from the Apps menu. but i hope you have good reason, its a dangerous program, especially on a softmoded Xbox

OMFG! I think I figured out why my HD wouldn't lock, if anyone can verify if this is why I will try to lock it again.
I had the jumper set to CS Enabled and not Master...will that prevent it from being locked?
and I realize this isn't the right forum or topic, but I had a revelation(lol) and I had to ask

config magic is a very powerfull tool and you should never use it on softmodded xbox, unless you know what your doing.
using config magic on chipped xbox is safer, as long as your chip supports the backup and retoration of eeprom, cause if it doesn't bye bye xbox, and buy a new one.
you've been warned!
true purposes of config magic would be:
to find info on your xbox, see hd keys, unlock and unlock hd, and eeprom flashing and editing.(currently the eeprom feature is all i would use)

As far as configmagic and softmodding goes, I don't think it's nessessary. You can back up the eeprom from EvoX. You don't need it to lock or unlock a new HDD, that's what xboxhdm is for. Yes, it's nice to have wrapped up into one powerful application, but it can destroy the world if it falls in the wrong hands. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS
