I'm fixing an Xbox right now, which currently keeps gettin the Error code 21. I tried using Xboxhdm to use a backup of MSdash from my Xbox, and I copied that over to the other Xbox's C drive, and I still get the error. Theres no EEPROM backup so I probably have to retrieve that first
It also has an Xecutor chip, but I'm nto sure how I'd utilize it...
Any suggestions?
No idea what version the Xecutor is... Tonight I'm gonna check for a D0 ground, but mod off I get error 21, chip on it kinda locks up at the screen that says X-Chip instead of M$ on dash.

Got the latest X2 bios onto the chip, but whenever I boot I still get the error 21 with a poartial Config Live overlay covering half the screen.

run the aid 2.11 , do a full format of the harddrive ,
install msdash , install hacked dash to c:\
reboot

again, no discs will boot. if it would I'd have used AID by now.

Hacked BIOS doesn't boot. It freezes at the config Live screen.
I'm out of ideas.
Went down to 2892 or whatever that verison is...goes to the boot screen, with Xecuter 2 on the bottom...and hten error code 21 (and it gives info on it).
Hm...do you guys think that doing a hotswap and copying my backup C drive that has SID on it would fix this?

What version Xbox do you have? Sounds like definitely a bios issue. What Xecuter chip do you have? Is this the newer X3, X2.6, or one of the ancient X2.3's?
We're just spinning wheels without the additional info.
If you have an X3 then you need to run an X3 bios to get the puppy to work. An X2 bios will work, but you won't get a lot of the functionality of the X3 chip...if you have a version 1.6 Xbox then the X2 bios is not an option...unless you are trying the X2 5035 bios..
Also, I don't think you are seeing X-Chip at the bottom of the screen. You are seeing X-Disk. That's because you flashed the X2 4983.67 bios to the Xbox.
If it is freezing there, it's either because you have a bum bios/wrong bios or more serious issues. It most likely wouldn't be the D0. The fact that you get to flash the chip and get the X-Disk at the bottom tells me it's trying to boot. If you had a bad D0 connection your Xbox would just boot up like a normal Xbox without the x-disk..it would just say MS.
If you are getting error 21 it's because your machine is trying to load a certain dashboard that is not there.
Do you still have the stock HD in or did you put a larger blank HD in?
Possibly once I get some added info on Xbox version and chip verstion I or another member can steer you in a better direction. As you can see there are a lot of factors that can cause the issue you are getting.

I restored a backup MSdash from my Xbox. I've messed around with differentt BIOSes, and I'm nto sure what version of the chip/the version of the Xbox. This isn't mine, and the guy said he stopped tryin to fitgure it out 6 months ago.
I'm also considering hotswapping and loading in my sofmodded C drive.
I'm also going to try getting the M8 BIOS in there. I jsut think its kinda weird that I keep gettin error 21 even with a MSdash in there...
That and It'd be a lot easier if the guy had a flippin backup of his EEPROM, as thats what I'm kinda trying to retrieve. If I can get that, he wants me to install a 40 gig HDD...

I'm pretty sure the chip is like a 2.1 or 2.3 or something. By looking at the serial and whatnot, it think its a 1.4 for the Xbox...
Nonetheless, now I try booting it with the chip on, and it goes in a loop of the flubber (tried it with Evox BIOS) and shuts down and loops from there.
Put in my Evox dash with SID3.0 onto C drive and booting without the modchip, it freezes at the boot screen after Microsoft comes up.

So you probably have an Xecuter 2.3 chip. On the chip itself, you need to set the dip switches to work with the proper Xbox version. This is probably done already, but you might want to check. And you are able to change the BIOS how?

No games, no nothing. I will check for the dip switches, but I don't think thats the problem as the guy had to have it set correctly to start with when he installed it and put XBMC to start with.
I still can't figure this out...
And I can't put in say a different hard drive if I don't have the Xbox's EEPROM, so thats still out of the question...

on Bank 2 of the chip there is FLASHBIOS, in what I believe to be a video state of PAL, as the screen won't stay sitll. I burned the bios onto a disc and just popped it in, setting it up with the Xecuter program...

It needs to be a meg? All the ones I've tried are either a 512 or 2 256 (evox)
I thought the 1 mb would go right over the second bank?
