I softmoded my xbox, and now I have unleash X and the Xbox Media Center on there. I also have the "DVD 2 Xbox" program, which rips the Xbox games quite well.

My problem is that I need a program that will rip normal movie DVDs into an easy to use self packaging file, kind of like an ISO. Basically if I wanted a program that would just rip the contents (video_ts, audio....) then I would do it on my computer and upload it via my network or just use the DVD 2 Xbox, since thats all the program seems to do for movies.

Does anyone know of a good DVD movie ripping program made specifically for the soft modded Xboxes, or for any modde Xbox for that matter? Does the XBMC have a program that does that('cause I couldnt find it)? Is there a more updated version of XBMC that has one built in?

(Part of the reason for the need for the program, is that I want my wife, who doesnt know much about computers, to be able to access movies easily without having to use the file explorer and then search for the ifo or vob file for the movies.)

Thanks Very Happy

no to everything, use your pc and burn them to disk with your pc or download compressed movies, a typical movie is 700 mb-1.4 gigs in size and usually is a single .avi or split into 2 or 3 avi's

Im not worried about file size as much as I am that XBMC will recognize the file as a movie or video without having to go into the file explorer to access the movie. For example I want it so that all you have to do is go to the video section and it will show a list of all the videos on the entire harddrive.

I have like the whole first season of Lost in .avi format on one of the partitions but XBMC wont recognize it in the video section. I have to access it through the file explorer. It plays it but, like I said before it has to be easier for people who arent as familiar that end up using it. Do the video files have to be on the same partition as XBMC in order for it to recognize it?

hey i got the whole first season of lost too Razz i'll tell you waht i did, run the network setup wizard on your pc and create a workgroup named MSHOME and turn on filesharing for your movie folder. now in XMBC, under videos, you should see a WORKGROUP (SMB) Network. select that and you should be able to access/play your movies off the pc. they should all just be listed and you just pick one to play it. Smile is awesome when/if you get it to work Razz and easy as pie, my computer/xbox illiterate girlfriend can watch a moive all by herself now Smile

if you can't get windows natively to recognize and share, the best program I have used (only b/c I am lazy Mad ) is ccxgui...it is a great and simple interface.

Runs in the systray. Small too.

I already have the ftp transfer thing going.....but I just want to know if its possible to make like icons or links for those movies in the main video section....like when you click on Videos...BAM, theres a list of every movie or show. Is that possible?

Also is there a folder or file in XBMC that you could link your movies or shows in. Im using Unleash X for my softmod, but it doesnt allow you to paste shortcuts.
