Help!!

Does anyone know why some of the V1.6b Xbox's freeze in chipped mode? when i run the games in original mode, they work fine. But when i start them in chipped mode, they ALL freeze after sometimes a few seconds! I've tried both DuoX2 white and aladdin XT 4064 chip, but same result.
The same chips work fine on a V1.6 and older.
I use the same bios as i use on V1.6 Xbox, EvoX M8 V16 FC 67 Blue, And it seems to work fine on some V1.6b, but other seems for no reason what so ever, to freeze!
Anyone knows whats wrong?
I can rule out solder problems, heat problems, dashboard problems, IGR problems.. All it seems to be left is the bios..

I would agree. I think it's a bios problem as well. I know that the 1.6 can be a bit twitchy. We might need to do some homework to find the best bios for your box.

I had a smiliar problem with a 1.6 and an evo bios, the dashes would load and would lock on loading any games or apps. Thankfully when the new X2 bios's came out , walla it was fixed, curreently running version X2.5035 on it with an x2 chip.

It's def a bios problem, if you chip can use 512k bios use the x2 one and it should be fixed. X2.5035

Modded three other V1.6b xbox's with the same problem, with a DuoX 2 and flashed them with the same bios.. They all seems to work now. You have saved me alot of money now.
Thanks again usedup!

Your welcome. I too thought I hosed my 1.6 that I was modding for a friend. it was one of the first ones that I soldered my self. and was confused because my soldering appeared to be good, the chip would flash and the dash would load. I worked with this box for weeks

I was releaved when xecuter came out with a bios for 1.6's

Yeah, anytime you do a 1.6 look at the RAM. If it says Hynix, use the M8 plus or X2 5035

If it says Samsung, you can either use the M8plus (works better for certain games) or the standard M8_16

Lately though, I have been using M8 plus exclusively on 1.6 and 1.6b machines.

Not having any issues whatsoever with it.
