I've always had my Internet running straight into my PC, and both my PC and my XBOX connected through a wireless router, where I'd been able to share the internet connection, use Kai/XBC, and stream music/movies etc.
Now I'd like to have my XBOX do all of this upstairs, where I can't get a hard line to reach, and have been trying to network my XBOX by connecting it to a laptop (which is on the network via a wireless PCMIA card) with a crossover cable.
Now I can connect sufficiently to the Laptop from the box, and vice versa, and can connect to the internet simultaneously on the Laptop, but am unable to access the internet connection or Samba to my PC from the box.
I've bridged the two connections on my laptop, but I can't seem to get it to work, I've been pretty much just guessing which IPs/DNS etc to use.
Anyone have/heard of a situation like this or with more networking experience have any ideas? I'm pretty stuck.

put in the default gateway and dns into xbox lan settings,
your default gateway is gonna be the routers ip .
and the dns you can get from opening the command window (in windows )
and typing in ipconfig -all (xp,2000) _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a
