...And then Xbox said "Soon... I will have a new apprentice." Behold! The Xbox 360 and Xbox side by side in this picture taken, most likely by a Microsoft employee or a very sneaky spy. This pic puts to rest the whole "no it's bigger than YOURS" debate that's been heating up forums.
When I say "no it's bigger than YOURS" I am referring to the Xbox and Xbox 360 sizes you nasty sick minded freak-a-leek.
Note that we are unable to see the hard drive on top, but even with the addition of it we don't believe it would be taller than the first generation Xbox.

Indeed. I just thought it an odd comparison to bring up. Unexpectedly, the Revolution came across as the most aesthetically pleasing console this year. In my opinion at least.

I really dont find the system too ugly. im just happy that for once, a company dident find a geometric shape, cram all the hardware into it and slap an xbox sticker on it. Its more easy on the eyes, it has that sort of "flow" to it.
But i agree with JustAnOrdinaryPanda, Revolution came out nice, and i still think the ps3 looks like a freakin' printer!!

Printer? Nah! PS3's all shiny! Dunno, haven't really seen much of it other than the screen with the controller in front, and another of a bunch of different coloured ones, so haven't seen much detail.
Plus the slot-loading drives just kick-arse! It's the one thing that almost tempted me to a Mac.

You what? Grill? BBQ? Have you even seen the PS3?
I was really disappointed with the look of the 360, the PS3 was of the usual shiny calibur that I've come to expect from Sony, and the Revolution completely exceeded my expectations.

The 360 doesnt look revolutionry i'l admit, but then again, neither did the xbox and we all know that looks arent everything cos the box puts foot to ass of the ps2 and gamecube, both of which have if not more pleasing, at least more interesting cases. and if the case bothers you that much you could always mod it, or hide it away so all you can see is the drive and the precious ring of light, you could build it into a desk drawer or something. (the oriantation sensing fans might prove interesting for any modders but nothings impossible)
What interests me is the fact that the 360 uses a 2.5" SATA HDD, starting at 20Gb but M$ promises bigger ones for those who have heavy storage needs eg. if this plan for full games available to buy, download and play straight off HDD goes thru.
so apart from their proprietry file system, which if it is to be backwards compatible i would assume is still FATX does this mean that any old hdd will do? maybe an 80Gb version that you could buy from Joe Computer Suplier for a fraction of the cost of M$ official one and format it yourself?

First let's assume you people have no taste.
On a more serious topic of course looks don't actually matter, but seeing as this thread is discussing the aesthetic differences between the Xbox and the 360, it's what's most relevant. (And hiding it is not a valid argument )
And if you go further, yeah, the Xbox kicked ass in terms of graphics and modding, but they don't actually matter when purchasing a games console. My PC did all of the superficial extras of modding in my front room before, and for the most part still does everything a modded Xbox does, and better. But in terms of the number and quality of gameplay of titles, which should be the main criteria for products of this nature, the PS2 has dominated this generation despite the box's few shining achievements.
And let's face it, if you don't completely love Halo, this is even more evident.
