I bought my xbox premodded and I do not know what bios it has and am not sure which version chip. Is there anyway to tell or a prgram that will let me know? Thanks

All you have to do is open your xbox and look at the LPC area to see what chip is on it.
As far as what bios you are running, there are programs out there but so far I haven't had luck with any of them...lol.
The reason is, your dashboard must have all available bios informatin input into it so it can recognize and list the bios for you. Bios' come and go and dashboards stay the same, so it's hard for your system to stay up-to-date.
If you aren't having problems...dont' worry about it. Curiousity sometimes kills the cat.
But, it is good to know what chip you have that way you know how to update th bios properly. I would just open the machine and look. Six screws on the bottom of your xbox, one screw holding the DVD drive and HD trays together, and two screws holding the DVD drive down. Thats it.
Plenty of tutorials show you how to take apart.

Hey modgod thanks for the reply. I have been modding them for friends and know how to get it apart but why I am wanting to know is for a bios upgrade. I am sure that there are newer ones than the one I have on it. I think it is a xecuter 2b or 2b lite not sure and would like to find out and what new bios are out there for it. For the bios you can use the Evox m8 (v1.0-1.5) or m8+ (v1.6). The xecutor bios are 5031 and 5032. _________________ Xbox v1.3

Actually, I have used the M8plus on some regular 1.6 machines without incident. But, the M8_16 is ample. I have noticed a few games that wouldn't run with M8_16 and after I switched to M8plus they worked fine.

Thanks for the info guys I appreciate it. That is why I want to update my bios because I have found a few games that will not play on mine and also a few that if something else from the same company are on the drive they will not play. Thanks again.

Mainly the grand theft auto series if I have another rock star game on the harddrive. I installed red dead revolver and others and the grand thefts quit working remove them and they work.
