hi guys first of all i was waondering what is firmware???? if u know and i heard that u can flash a dvd rom to xbox firmware?? is it true?????if its k to ask its tru???

Firmware is the program that tells the device how to operate, much like the bios you flashed your chip with. It's possible to flash Samsung 616T DVD drives with the 605 firmware. However the eject button will not work and it will NOT read original Xbox discs.

whats the point in flashing it if it doesnt read xbox originals... i was under the impression this was the only one that could??

If you were to extend four of the yellow wires from the xbox dvd connector and solder them to the pcb of new drive it would read originals while in your xbox.
I haven't heard of anyone getting a drive in a pc to read originals, Which would be the only reason I can see anybody doing this for.

The SD-616T drive WILL read all original Xbox games when flashed to the 605B firmware and the eject button will work if you wire the drive properly. If you can find a Samsung SD-616T drive I wll modify it for you for $30. That includes return shipping.
