I am new to softmodding, the only boxes i have done before i have TSOP flashed and i have never had this problem. What is happening is that i can get everything to the hard drive but when i try to load a game from there it freezes during the loading screen, now not all games have done this but about a half of them have, for example when i try to load my profile in Forza it freezes but i can get to the normal gameplay, if i load brothers in arms it freezes on the intro load screen. I am running unleash X and i have updated the dashboard and even tried to reinstall the softmod from SID but nothing fixes this problem. any suggestions would be great, thanx, adam

probably just somethin to do with the disk drive, I had the same problem then I bought some high quality DVD-R's and they loaded nice and fast

i didnt mean loading form the dvd drive, i mean when playing the game that is loaded to the hard drive they freeze, they play fine from the orig disc if i have to use them but i am trying not to have to use them each time i want to play a different game. what would cause them to freeze when playing from the hard drive?

Someone who has the EXACT same problem as me.
In fact it is the exact same game even.
I downloaded Forza, and it plays great, I played it for about 6 hours, and then when I went to reload my profile I get the same issue as you, it says loading profile and tries to load it for about 2 seconds, then the Xbox just locks up.
If I create a new driver it works fine, but for career mode it doesn't work, and since Forza takes like 100+ hours to beat, that is going to be a problem.
Maybe we can compare notes, I have tried multiple saves and none of them work, I have tried deleting all the saves and recreating them, that didn't work either.
I have a 1.1 SoftModed XBox and I am running UnleashX as my Dashboard. The version of UnleashX that I am running is the version that came in SID 2.0 MechAssualt install (haven't upgraded it yet) and the way that I transfered Forza to my HD was by extracting straight from the ISO to the Xbox using the C-XBox Tools.
I am wondering if maybe I need to change/upgrade my dashboard...
Also on a side note, I have noticed that when I startup using my eject button it no longer goes to the SoftMod menu, but it goes straight into UnleashX, this seemed to happen right after I used the XboxHDM 1.9 to install my new 30 Gig drive, does anyone know how to get it so it goes to the Softmod menu again?
Hopefully we can figure this issue out, I woudl really like to play some of these games.

okay, so I reinstalled SoftMod (just because that was an important thing to do anyway) and I switched to the EvoX dashboard. I get the same issue as the UnleashX dashboard, it loads up Forza, but a soon as I try and load the profile from disk it locks up.
Anyone else have any suggestions on what to try here? Should I try a newer version of UnleashX or EvoX, are the ones that come in SID 2.0 that old?

Okay so I updated my UnleashX to the newest version 0508 and still no luck. I am not sure what to attempt next here... I know people have had success playing Forza I am assuming there must be at least 1 other soft modder out there.
I am not sure, do I need to redownload, reinstall using a different method other than C-Xbox... any other ideas out there?

So I was told on another forum that there are a few people out there with this issue, and in fact one of them even has a mod chip installed and he still has this issue.
I _think_ it might be an incompatibility with the hard drive you install, because someone claimed that he put his original hard drive back in and it worked.
Tonight I will try puting my original hard drive back in and boot up Forza, we will see if that works. I will make a post of how it goes either this evening or tomorrow.

thanx for your updates, i too have tried updating unleash x, and patched the ms dash but no help either way. my problem is that it is not just forza, it is a few games such as brothers in arms, burnout 3, and halo 2 but some load up and play with no problems at all such as fight night 2. if anyone out there has any other ideas please post here. i am using maxtor 200 gig hard drive. thanx

I don't have any of the other games you list, so I can't specifically say whether one fix will work for all of them or not, but I am guessing since they all sound similar, they are probobly all inter-related and fixing one will fix them all, and since I happen to have Forza installed it is the one I am using to troubleshoot right now.
I just wish someone who was able to load Forza and it is working fine for them would post the details of what they have and how they installed it so I could compare notes. I have a few requests in other places as well so maybe I can pick up some tips from elsewhere.
The real problem here is that I only modded my Xbox 4 days ago, so I am pretty new to all this, but I tend to think of myself as technically savvy so I hope I am not just missing some step that all the other XBox modders out there intrinsicly know because they have done this so much. What makes me frustrated is it sounds like this works for literally thousands of people out there, but for some reason it doesn't work for me. My big fear is that I messed up somewhere and I am trying to reinvent the wheel here, but I have read through all the Howto's, Tutorials, etc and as far as I can tell I have done everything how I am supposed to. If any Uber Modders/Code Masters out there want to chime in, I would love to hear your take on this.

Okay, I think I found a fix, but I can't confirm this until I get home from work (6 more hours, ugh...) If you are able to try this before me and post your results, hopefully this will not only fix the Forza issue but all the other games as well.
So I was browsing multiple other forums (not sure if I am allowed to say which ones, but it was at Xbox-scene, want to give credit where credit is due, but don't want to break the rules) and I found this series of posts:

Woohoo!
I can confirm that deleting all of the files (but not the folder itself) in E:\Cache fixes the problem for Forza.
I hope to hear that this addresses some of the other issues you have had with some of your other games, hopefully you can report back on how it goes for you, but I am thrilled that I can now load my profiles!

I have softmod and Forza loads fine for me and can use my driver profile fine. I am running it from the HD. Are you using the NTSC or PAL version of the game? I have a PAL version and it plays fine on my NTSC TV (sony). Now I don't know if the fact the tv is less then 6 months old makes it dual compatible but what ever. I am running UnleashX too and I used Forza on the older version and the upgrades. To put it on my HD I used Quix to extract it straight to my computer then ftp'd it using FlashFXP to my XBOX. Also I have a Ver 1.6 Just trying to give you all the info I can.

agenthack - What is the issue with Burnout3? This was a specific problem that we were addressing in Forza, what is your Burnout3 issue? There are LOTS of fixes for that game out there.
