hello all ,
just wanted to khow if anyone can answer my question i want to reformat an oem xbox hard drive using the auto installer disk and put in evolution x the newest version so if i do that will i be able to use it on any xbox or will it only work for the xbox it was formatted on .
i will be doing this to my buddy's hard drive , see i kinda want to have a softmod set up here but i dont like the evolution x that comes with the memory card install that is why i want to reformat and put in the new evox , also if i do this do i have to use a modchip to make it work if anybody has any clues let me khow thanks in advance .

The HD will only work on the xbox motherboard that matches its EEPROM unless you have a modchip. Dont know a whole lot bout softmoding but from what I know you would need to format the drive in the xbox youre going to use it in if you want it to work......heres a link to a post that may help you update the dash in your softmod

hello ,
thanks for your quick reply i will check out that link that you suggested and see if i can find some more information on what i want to do , i khow how to do all the softmod stuff and i khow how to install modchips etc but im not sure exactly if you can reformat a oem xbox hard drive and install the new evox i think if i install the microsoft dashboard then i will need a chip to make it work .
i guess maybe i will just buy a oem hard drive and put it in my machine and try doing what i want then see if it works thanks for your help i'll check out that link too .
