Can anyone tell me if you can compress an xiso file and still burn it to dvd or split the file? I've had no problems burning xiso files of my backup games, however one of my games created an xiso file over 5gigs and my dvd media is only 4.7gigs. Is there a solution?

DVD media can only hold 4.36 GB not 4.7 GB, the reason being that space is required on the DVD for the Lead In/Out plus the Table of Contents.
You'll find it impossible to record a 5 GB image onto a 4.36 GB DVD, the only thing you can do is resize the game. This can be done be either downsampling the video, or the removal of non-english files.

how did ya go voyager?
You should notice some language files there somewhere.. But depending which game your copying to your hard drive it may have huge files to take it over 5gb like metal gear solid which you can't backup to dvd-r..

Hey guys,
Haven't tried it yet. The game is Ninja Gaiden and I tried to save it to my xbox hd, using slayers eovx auto installer 2.5. However the dashboard hangs up in the dvd2xbox menu when selected. Just a thought, can I ftp the game to my pc hd, then send it back to my xbox hd? _________________ Xbox 1.6

Yes you can do it that way, I'm assuming that you would put the game on your Xbox's E Drive when you transfer it back also (IE: E:\Ninja Garden).
Hope that helps...

Thanks DJB. I am in the process of putting something together for all the big games then uploading it as one file for the VIP's...
That ninja gaiden info saves 1.96GB of space giving plenty of opportunity to back up to disk now.
And like forahobby said, Metal Gear Solid is a freaking monster!! And, none of it is deletable..... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Instead of a big file, I can talk to forahobby about opening a section on the forum just for this... We can have it locked to VIPs if we want, or just have it accessable for anyone.
It would just be a lot easier to keep up-to-date, plus ppl wouldn't have to download various versions of the file.
This is a new service now available in Dvd2Xbox, which is basically doing what you described. The only thing ofcourse is we could come up with games that are not in their database.
Anyways, have a little think about it and get back to me...[/url]

hi Uplink,
Yup that will work.. Just copy the entire game to the XBOX HD and you should be ok..
You may need to PATCH the 'default.xbe' though before it will boot of the hard drive.. Use patching tools found in the NORMAL DOWNLOADS section.
ADR Patcher is the name you want if you need it!
