Hello Peoples,

I am a new Xbox modder, i used the Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0.
Everything worked great, updated it with slayers Autoinstall disk to the newest evolutionX, but now i have a question.
I have 3 little brothers that play on my xbox too, so i don't want them to ruine my modded xbox. Shocked
So my question is, how can i remove or secure the Softmod menu that opens up when you leave your DVD-Tray open?
If they come into that menu i think i can throw my xbox away???
Can someone help me with this?

greetings Will

From what I know you cant get rid of it.....its there in case you need to update, change settings for your soft mod or restore you box back to how it was before modding. Dont know what els eto tell you. Maybe send DJB a PM as he created the SID or put in a VIP support ticket as all the admins see it

If you have ftp access, just go in and copy the closed.bin file in the sid folder, to your pc.

Rename this file open.bin, and copy it back, overwriting the existing file. This will make the bios load the closed.bin either way.

you dont need a computer lol. dont bother ftp-ing. just go to file manager. copy the closed.bin and move it to any other folder it doesnt matter. then rename that copied closed.bin to open.bin. in the C/SID/ folder, delete the open.bin. Move your newly made open.bin to the c/sid/ folder. So now both buttons launch your mod Wink . That what I do for my friends when I mod theirs.

I should seriously put a one-boot option only for Softmod Installer Dluexe v3.0, looks like lots of ppl don't like this tray open menu.

Thats great till u need to use it
though.
if you press Start on the offensive
part of the menu you should see
a little blue box in there it
should allow you to restrict accses
unless you know the password
if you instal unleashX as your
dash as well you can stop
anyone from doing anything at all
without the pass.

Alternatively you can run Auto-Installer Deluxe, clear C Drive and re-install the MS Dash, then it's back to stock.

I have to argue here lol. I actually like the softmod installer with the 2 boot option! Cause with my softmodded and my few LIVE Friends I modded it comes it very handily! I think if anything ... just offer an option when you install the softmod: would you like a dual boot option? cause id say yes but the average noob prob does just want no.

Hey guys, thanks for these tips.
Great to have a solution!!!
And DJB, it's really a good idea to put the one menu option in a next release.

Greetings Will

if you really want it secure , do it like i do and remake the config so all the menu items on tray open are protected by a password .(look unleashx)

So now your friends or brother can use your xbox without fucking it up by mistake!

cheers

pirrup

Well, I'm pretty sure most of you will be happy to hear that I've just finished implementing an option to install the softmod with or without the tray open menu in BOTH Auto-Installer Deluxe 2.0 and Softmod Installer Deluxe v3.0.

Why don't you just delete the Softmod install from the gamesaves? When I do that there isn't a tray open menu (at least that's the case with my MA installer).

Easy to put back when you want. What I'd like to see is a built in option to easily edit the evox.ini.

Is there a release date yet for the new Installers?

Hm, hard to say, coz I could do one of two things:

* Hold off and make this the absolute final installer for the xbox (which I'm thinking more not to do these days)

* Release a fully 100% working package in around 1-2 months, and make one last update near the end of the year.

The reason why I'm being a little uncertain is for the fact of the new Xbox 1.6c that has come out, so I just want to verify that there isn't any big signifcant changes like a new BIOS that has to come out etc.

Hope that answers your question...

it's also a solution, but if you delete the savegame and something goes wrong, you can't get into your xbox anymore, maybe you can still play original games, but that's all, you'll never be able to FTP into it anymore.
I already had it sometime ERROR 21, and without the savegame you have to open up your Xbox, and that's just NOT the intention with the Softmod. It is a solution but i prefer the changing of the Open or close files.
greetings Will

If you can still play original games then you can use splintercell, mechassult or 007 to get the savegame going again. Id suggest putting it on a memory card, then you have a copy incase anything does go wrong.
