I have a Xenium Ice 120 gig drive xbox. everything works on the chip ive played and burned games on the drive and in the Ice main screen when you can choose the bios to go into Evolution-x or retail (m$) i will select the m$ bios and the chip led light will turn green like it is set to but the screen will stay blank and will never load. i can get to it in the evolution bios but that is with the chip enabled and i would like to play LIVE. please help thanks

Make sure your hard drive is locked. MS dash looks for the lock.

That's not the HD lock issue, otherwise it would throw error code 05.
If I remember correctly, I had to restore your eeprom from a chip that you provided me, correct?
Chances are there is an incompatibilty between the MS Bios and current eeprom info. Your chip was on a different mobo and your HD was locked to it. Luckily, your eeprom was backed up and that enabled you to continue using the current 120GB HD, the main reason why I never lock my HD, so when I put your chip onto the new motherboard and then had to put your previously locked HD into the new system, the only way to unlock the mobo was to use your eeprom backup info and restore the new mobo's eeprom with the old mobo's eeprom info.
I am not 100% sure, but that could have caused an issue with the MS bios. What you can do to get around this is, find out what kernel you need for the 1.6 machine and find that MS bios and flash the mod chip with that bios. You have plenty of bank space on that puppy, may as well use it.
Then, when you want to game on Xbox Live, just launch the MS bios off of the chip. MS wont know if the bios is being loaded from the motherboard or the mod chip

Are there any TSOP flashers or softmodders that know what retail kernel he needs?

well i did some looking on the net and it seems to be that the kernal for the 1.6 is 5838 and i look for the ms bios and it seems that everything is in a installer with a lot of other things like for example http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1481&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0. it has the ms bios i need but i don't need all the other stuff do i? i just want the ms bios only can i take it off that, or do i need to look for something else?

if i got a new eeprom for the xbox and flashed it to the chip would that solve the problem?

I'm not 100% sure if th eeprom is your ticket.

does anyone know were i can get the ms bios for a 1.6 xbox so i can flash my xbox with it. and all i need to do is burn it to a dvd go into lauch item select new flash select drive then file (what file) and is that it? will it have a .bin extention

You should make a post in the softmod section asking if anyone knows what is the retail kernel version number for the 1.6 machines.... Some of them may be a little more into the software portion of the Xbox and have that info.
