I am have a project with my broken Xbox console.
First, my Xbox is broken, when I push Start button the green led flash about two or three second,after, the red led flashes . No hava image on TV.
I think about a HDD problem, right?
Now, I am reading about solution: a new HDD unlocked and a Chipmode.
What chip is good for V1.1 console? i need install a coin acceptor validator for reset the game, no the console. I can control this with chipmode?

i know someone has an Xbox in an arcade cabinet, i think it was off this site. but i don't think it actually took quarters

Idea: Making a modded xbox which a special dash to autoload a game so it could only play say...Sega GT and have a wheel and stuff like racing games at the arcade!

an aladdin will work for the basics, ive installed those on version 1.0, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6. but i would for a xenium, it has the solderless adapter, usb, and its own OS. mine should be here in a copule days

I need return to dashboard screen when the time is out, the coin acceptor send a digital pulse to any part of xbox or modchip board...but i dont know what pins of modchip is good for it.

Hi Yeshua,
Very interesting project.. I was going to do someting like this about 2 years back but as always ran out of time..
How i would approach is this:
Get a modcihp (any modchip you feel comfortable with)..
Any modchip will do really because all we want the modchip for is so the XBOX you have can boot NON-MICROSOFT code like the mame emulators, Auto Installers etc etc.. A modcihp also allows you to upgrade your xbox hdd..
Once you get your modchip installed and flashed with a hacked bios (available from our vip downloads) i would do this:
1. Download the XBOXHQ AID
http://www.aid.xbox-hq.com
2. Burn it to DVD-R/CDRW and boot in your xbox with your modhcp on
3. Do a full format and reinstall of only the basic M$ Dashboard dont add any other apps etc.
4. Now install mame from the Aideluxe to your xbox.
5. FTP into your xbox and see if you can get mame to run as your dashboard.. If you can then you are laughing..
Once it boots as a default dashboard you could add the coin acceptor and soldier it directly to your xbox joyports (back button).. Then when a coin is collector it will press the 'back' button on the xbox joypad (which means insert credit for mame) and then it will work..
i would be interested to see how you go with this actually.

i seem to remember that there was a tutorial on this site for adding a reset button to periferals like the memory card, could this be used as a receptor for the coin acceptor? not entirely sure how to do it, probably need a logic switch so that when the console is 'idle' the switch remains closed to stop people playing it without paying and then when coins are inserted the circuit is broken for a time allowing you to play the machine.
if that wouldnt work is there any way to fool the xbox into thinking the timeout pulse was the IGR signal? wire up a diode to each of the relevant buttons on controller and connect in parallel to output of coin mech so the signal momenterily closes all the buttons programmed for the IGR
