Speaking of auto installers, I wish DJB could help me to rebuild my old car. This is my "other" hobby. I am restoring an old F-85 Oldsmobile. This one is a 1962. Has a ways to go yet before it's completely road worthy but it still gets around with me once in a while. Anyone else have any old cars or old cars that you are rebuilding?

Here is the one that my dad and I have been working on for several years off and on. It's got a bit of bips and bangs, but it's just an old car, so that's alright.

'69 Camaro SS

Dang Sjohn... I haven't seen an old Camaro in forever. I remember being a kid and those were real bad to the bone cars. That rocks!

I love old cars too....what can I say. My friend and I have been working on a 71 chevellle SS. Just finished the interrior. Took out the whole dash and used it as a mold and make a new one outta fiberglass.....looks pretty sweet. Found some leather seats we put in. Now we just have to get enough $ to rebuild the motor (454) and get a new tranny. Has flow master. Need posse tractino as well. Been workin on it on and off for a few years....and have a few more to go. I'll try and get some pics, but I dont have a digital camera so no promises.

Old cars are the shit. ( I love the 60's cars, but the body style's of the earlier seventies....my nipples are hard again.)

I want an 1969 Olds 442 and a 1970 Pontiac GTO.

My mom and her boyfriend enjoy restoring cars as there together activity. They just got done putting back together a really sweet 1972 Lemans LS (GTO w/o stickers and engine kit). It is sweet.

They also restored a 1979 Chevy Suburban 454.

And a list of other cars they put work into:
1968 Pontiac Grandprix: rare to see (See movie: Goodfellas, same car with the dead body in the trunk he washes out.)

1979 Chevy Camaro Z-28 w/a Rockcrusher (I think that is the name its been a while) manual transmission.

1986 Monte Carlo SS 350 w/ T-Tops

1958 Cadillac ... ( don't remember, only saw it once: away at shcool)

and a couple more.

It is great to see what cars used to do before all this emissions and save the earth nonsense

Razz

????Was that you in the picture 2th-y?

Better Avatar, You have. Smite you I will.

Yes shortacid, that's my punk ass standing by my F85. It's still getting renovated, but I hope to have it in car shows as some point in the next year or so. Also might end up with a '71 Cadillac. Has a mighty motor well over 400 horses. Huge fins too. Parascope turn signals on the front so the driver can see what lights are running without looking down.
Very ahead of it's time.

And now the above stated in language that shortacid can understand:

Yin' shortacid, dat's mesa punk ass standin' by mesa F85. 'tis still gettin' renovatin', but mesa hope to have it in car shows as some point in da next year or so. Also might end up wid a '71 Cadillac. Has a mighty motor okiday over 400 horsin'. huge-o fins too. Parascope turn signals on da front so da driver can see what lights are runnin' widout lookin' down.
awful ahead of 'tis time.

Dude I'll tell ya what, old cars put a 6 pack on the ol downstairs around the zipper (if ya know what I mean). They aren't the little riceburners from Asia or the rounded out eggs that come out of Europe, they are hard steel, big, heavy, bad-ass sounding machines with V8's that would thromp any car built today.
I'm not talking about those Italian racing machines built out of fiberglass that shatter if someone sneezes on them and go 10,000 MPH in a 25 MPH zone either. I'm talking about cars that have outlasted most and are damn near as old if not older than I am. Cars built to last a life time and suck down gas faster than I can margaritas! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. HUAH!

The f85 grew up as it got older...
You've seen my 62 F-85, here's a guy with a 69 f-85. By this time, they were simply calling the car a Cutlass.

Just for a cheap plug... a also have a forum for f-85's at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/oldsmobileF-85 . This was before I started modding Xboxes. It's fairly cool and has pictures of f-85's from the beginning to basically the end. Damn near 50 members that have these cars from all over the world. Rather cool.
Vrrooooooooom..........
