My original xbox hard drive is dead . Is there any possible way to get my xbox back to live. Somebody told me that i can use Matrix Modchip. Tutorial for this chip says that i have to backup my original xbox hard drive before i replace it with new one, but i can't do it because my hard drive is f...ing dead . Can i replace hard drive without backing it up. Maybe i need to buy some aditional equipment or chips or download software or files to do that? I don't realy understand why do i have to backup my old hard drive, is it necessary? Anyways i can not do that. PLEASE advise me how to solve this problem

Dont Sweat it fedor,
You dont really need to backup your HD before replacing it..
(although i always do)
I would suggest you do the following:
1. Buy and install a modchip that is already flashed with a working bios that will boot unsigned code (backups).
The Matrix/Chameleon/Xecutor etc come flashed with a LEGAL bios called cromwell which does not boot backups (it boots linux).. You would need to flash the modchip and install it. This would be just another task you have no idea where to start.

I suggest going for the APPLEX or APPLEXV which is ready to boot as soon as you or your local tv repair man soldiers 9 x wires (as per instructions).
2. Open your xbox and Install a New Hard Drive (up to 120gb).. Any pc brand will do even 7200rpm drives.
3. Download and burn a ISO of SLAYERS AUTO INSTALLER. (available to all vips from our private ftp)
4. Boot slayers and choose
'format and partition NEW LARGER HD'
5. it will format you new drive and will return your xbox back to a working state.. You can also just make it format and install the original dashboard..
