I am thinking of changing my dash from evox. What other dashes would you recommend? What features do they have? I have attached a .jpeg image of a dash. Could someone tell me what dash it is?
Thanks

I prefer UnleashX. It R0X0rz UR s0x0rz.
I have a link to EvoX in my UX menu to use trainers only. When UX supports trainers I will forever banish EvoX from my system Muahahahaha!!!

Heres a link to another thread where I go into more detail aboot the advantages of UX.

http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt3482.html#23697

The menus are soooooooooooo easy to reconfigure. I have fun just configuring the darn thing.

Funky
The picture of a dash is XBMC.

I Use evox, ava and unleash.
i made links for them all on all three
dashes so i can skip to any dash from
any of the dashs, inc ms dash
i also included Linksboks and CE-Box
to the start menu on all three.

this excert is taken from the Avalaunch manual (which i uploaded for you guys Smile) you can create shortcuts to any program, or dashboard.

Quote:

3.1] Creating menu’s in Avalaunch

The XML file explains itself pretty much, so here I did copy & paste most of it and added my grain of salt when necessary. Just open up your XML file with a normal text processing program, I used notepad.

All menu entries have to be either an “Item” or a “List”

Example of an “Item”:
Code:

<item name="XBox Media Player" path="E:\Apps\XBMP\default.xbe"/>

You can add as many items as you want, so no worries about limitations. An item is, if you didn’t know yet, a direct link to an XBE, so for example to link it to your Microsoft Dashboard could be:
Code:

<item name="Microsoft Dashboard" path="C:\xboxdash.xbe"/>

Example of a “List”:
Code:

<list name="Games"> <path scanlevel="2">E:\Games</path>

Path should be directed to the folder you want to scan for xbe’s. The scan level (2 in this case) sets the levels of sub folders to scan from the starting point. If not defined, it will simply default to 2 sub folders. Meaning that all default.xbe in:

E:\Games (level 1) E:\Games\<folder> (level 2) will be included in the list.

If you want to divide your applications into sub-categories you can add 'List' items to a list Example:

Code:

<list name="Games">
     <list name="Action">
          <path> E:\Games\Action </path>
     </list>
</list>

This pretty much covers it all, just make sure you hit “TAB” after the list, you shouldn’t have it all in one row or the same place, it firstly looks cleaner and secondly it’s the way it’s meant to be. If you do get problems because you didn’t use “TAB” you might consider changing it to what it is meant to look/be.

edit: oo i re-read what you wrote Blighty, i thought you said you used XBMC cuz you could make shortcuts. yea its very handy to be able to switch dashboards, i have Avalaunch as my primary, but i also have M$, EvolutionX, and Evox

Personally, i use Evox, Lately i am gravitating towards UnleashX.
But as was stated earlier, I use Evox mostly for trainers. when Unleash starts to utilise trainer, Evox is going into the bin! Wink

Cheers

I use Avalaunch and keep a link to EvoX like everyone else, just for trainers. I haven't tried any other dash's yet, and took me a while to switch to Ava in the first place. I was happy with EvoX for the longest time, but after looking into Ava, I saw a lot of things I liked, so I finally made the switch. Now I'm looking at UnleashX, just not sure yet.

Scourge,
can you give me any details about UnleashX, as why it's better, major differences from Ava and such? I've been looing into it, even d/led it, but just not sure I want to go through the hoops of reconfiguring everything again.

If you have yours all setup nicely, and want to share it, maybe put it up and link it. If I can find one that I don't need to reconfigure (or at least minor..like path to XBMC and such) I might check it out more.

Thanks

I have that link on the top of the posting that has the reasons that I prefer UX.

Also If you like Ill try to dig up the backup of the last Config.xml file I put together, If I find it Ill have it posted later tonight for you. Its a "kid friendly setup" I made it for a friend who has kids, its still functional, but the bad parts are password protected (settings menu, text editor, & DVD copy is pwd protected. Format options removed completely)

Im not done putting together my personal Config.xml, but its a good start. What you can do is print out the old Config.xml file and the one I post and see what I changed. Its actually pretty easy once you make thoes specific connections. Also earlier yesterday I uploaded a printer friendly version of the UX manual that I edited. I prefer to have a hard copy of things instead of straining my eyes on a monitor, call me old fashioned!
Here is the link for ya if you caint wait! Ill post my Config file once I find it (my PC is a mess now).
I have to drop my my parents house today to do some electrical work for them so thats why I cant do it this second, but Ill get it out here for ya.

Hope you like!

... The guy in white is EvoX.... PWNED!!!!
<edit: I updated my Sig for everyone!>

Actually, I already d/led the manual you posted, as have been looking through it. your "kid freindly" version, actually would be perfect as I have kids who "occasionally" I let play my XBox. I have some games on there that I password protected with yalx to keep them out of it, so restricted settings and programs would be a great addition. I look forward to it. Thanks a lot. Smile

Here you go. You can actually password protect specific games as well in UX, you only need to add the specific game to the "games" part of your menu. You add it as if you are adding an application.

For an example of how to add a specific application look at how I put in the DVD2Box refrence, that tells the exact place it resides. You dont need to add EVERY Game, just the ones you want to password protect, the others will all be added automatically. After you slap in the refrence throw in the Password="xbox" with "xbox" being replaced with your password.

I hope this helps.

The IP for this setup is 192.168.1.30
Also I put back in the Format menu part, it gives a good example of Batch execution, its password protected at the "Settings" menu level anyway.
