help i renamed the evox dashboard which is xboxdash.xbe to evoxdash.xbe and msdash.xbe to
xboxdash.xbe
and now it wont boot is there any way to get it back
cos i dont have a modchip installed and the exploits wont work because when i try the exploits i brings up the (your xbox needs service) sign is there anyone who can give me a solution
i need a way to ftp into the xbox

I'm new.. but I did pretty much the same thing last week and I got everything back.
Originally I did a hotswap of the HDD with the one on my PC and loaded Slayer's tools. So, to fix, I just did the hotswap again and didn't format the F: or G: drive. I only did the E: drive and everything came back up to the way it was with all my apps and games still saved.

If the xbox is modded it will boot of the dvd-r as long as it can be read by your drive. _________________

Since it is softmod and hoping that you got the savehack "On your xbox and not on the Memory card but try it", and if the savehack have ftp ability then your in luck! Just put in the game that you used the gamesave hack with in the dvd drive and turn it off and turn it back on. Does it load the game? It should even with a bad xboxdash if not then one of these problems happened.
1) You flashed your xbox (before mabey? Used)
2) You got an old xbox lwith a bad tompson drive and the dvd-rom don't read your xbox game fast enough before the HD activates.
3) Even if you have a recient xbox liike version 1.2 and up and have samsung, tompson, Phillips dvd-rom drive it might not be alligned (laser) quite right to read the dvd before the HD activates (I had 2 phillips drive and I replased it with the faster reading one from the 1.6 version and replased the good but slow reading (after the HD activates) to my friend who had a broken tompson drive for his version 1.1 xbox
3) Scratched up game dvd and drive don't read it so clean the disk of fingureprints or rent/ barrow the same game dvd that you softmod hack with.
And PLEASE DON"T CHANGE AND RENAME FILES THAT YOU DON"T KNOW!!!!!!!!!! (sorry 4 all caps but want to make sure he gets it in his head if he ever fix the problem)
p.s If you didn't get the gamesave hack that has ftp ability then go back and find the hack that does and the only other game that lets you use the memory card is 007:AUF and make sure it's not the greates hits/platnum ed. Once you dl the save hack sign it with a habbi key to gamesave hack or otherwise it'll give you the error 21 again after you load up the "SAVE"
If you can't find the right hack then use the same 007 hackunzip it and go into the last folder. Delete the .xbe and config files in the last folder it should be 00000000..something like that but leave the .xbx and .sav files and xbgamesave.dat and put in evox or unleashx and rename it to default.xbe and then sign it with habbi key to amesave and re-zip the folder but make sure the first folder name has udata on it. If it has numbers then create a new folder and name it udata and move the other folder into it and rezip it and upload it to the memory card.(make sure it's the offical M$ memory card too)

yeah but i have just installed an aladdin XT pro chip with xapter solderless adapter but when i boot up and i am holding the power button down for more than 3 secs it does a power cycle and there is a burning smell and then it brings up nothing on the screen and the led flashes red and green any ideas please
