when i was figuring out what version xbox i had i found out that mine was either a 1.4 or 1.5 and that 1.5 were made in August of 2003 and then microsoft went back to 1.4 before 1.6. Becuase of this i figured i had a 1.4 since mine was manufactured in November. I just installed my chip however.....and i'm almost positive i did everything right but nothing happened. Even though mine was made in November is there a chance that its a 1.5 and i have to solder those couple of wires?

Yes, you have a 1.5 most likely.
The only true way to determine (that I know of) is to check for continuity between the number 2 LPC Hole and ground. If you have continuity you have a 1.4 if not you have a 1.5.
The 1.5 machine is very scarce, but it is out there. If you are certain you did everything right and you have NO LED on the chip then I would mod it like a 1.5.

i have an LED but it doesn't light up at all

Every Xenium Ice mod chip has an LED on it.
I would say to mod it like a 1.5
It won't hurt. The same thing happened to me once. I chipped a machine that I thought was a 1.4 and I had nothing. I popped the two extra wires on there and viola, it worked.

ok i can do that. but what if i had done something wrong and it is a 1.4 and i mod it like a 1.5......will it harm anything? and i put the chip in with a solderless adapter, can solder the ground wire and the 3.3 wire to that or will i have to take it out and just solder everything? and thanks for taking the time to help me with this

What is soldered can always be undone, so I would have to say that if it was a dead chip issue or something like that then you would be okay.
I personally have never used any solderless adapters so I can't answer that other questions. I always solder a pin header and go from there. But, i would imagine that you could still solder to the adapter, I think it was the number 2 pin...heck, I have only done 1 1.5 so far so I can't remember.
Since everything is done on the top I would say that you would solder to the adapter. Just make sure you have desoldering braid to take it back to normal if you have to.

Ive had a fair few 1.5 xbox's, if ti was me I would just solder it in, takes out any possible issues with the solderless adapter then
